*SOLD* 1990 SW20 MR2 GT Turbo Hardtop ACT

1990 SW20 MR2 GT Turbo - SOLD (Canberra, ACT)
Model: SW20-ACMZZ / 3S-GTE
Year: 1990
Colour: Crimson Red '3J6'
Kms: 200,171
Rego: Registered 
Location: Belconnen, ACT
History: Personal Imported (2001) after purchased & driven in NZ (Sept, 1999) direct from Japan with 69472 km on the speedo.
Modifications: Not by me (apart for minor ADR compliance reqts i.e. driver's wing mirror, Front Turn Indicators) but I suspect previous owner(s) in Japan may have made some - possibly to address SW20s tendency to snap oversteer in the opposite direction after skid recovery - including:
  • strut bars over the engine and front (see photos)
  • non-standard wheel sizes - Front: 205/50/R16  Rear: 225/50/R16
  • Yokohama Super Advan 16" 3-spoke Alloy Wheels that I've since polished back to metal
Overall Condition: Very Good 
Other information: Never raced, it was my daily drive until 2011 when I developed a lower-back problem. Reluctantly garaged ever since, now that I've retired 2017 is the year I'd love to pass it on to someone who will appreciate and enjoy its unique design as much as I have.
  • Regularly serviced by Neal Bates Automotive here in ACT, with Steering & Suspension work by Chris at INLINE Steering, QBYN.
  • Unique Japanese GT hardtop model with steerable front fog-lights, powered folding wing mirrors, black alcantera/leather door and seat trim, electronic climate control - 2 stage AC, rate & tilt adjustable steering etc.
  • Blitz turbo timer (previous owner)
  • Brandt AA02 Triple Cut Engine Immobiliser (Shannon's insurance requirement)
  • New Battery (Jan 16) - kept on trickle charger
  • Dunlop SP Sport Maxx Tyres - only 33409 km
Work done:
  • Body repairs: Rear bumper due to accidents by idiots who keep running into my rear-end (2001, 2005)
  • Shocks done - Bilsteins @96500km
  • Timing Belt, Brakes machined/Ferrado pads, Spark plugs @101,055km
  • New Aerial @100,371km
  • Airconditioning fixed and regassed @111527km (2006)
  • New key ignition barrel @131922
  • Handbrake cable @149,419
  • Master Cylinder reconditioned @197646
Work due:
  • Next service @203,000
  • Coolant lines - need attention
  • Engine/Turbo - probably due reconditioning/replacing?
  • Entertainment system - needs upgrading (single CD player not working)!
