nick12 while I often have done Adl/Syd Syd/Adl in one hit, sometimes alone, it's 1500k's. I reckon the Hume highway is the most boring part, as you're just making distance to get somewhere at that stage.. If the cars are running well, the Snowy Mountains Highway might be worth a day long diversion, staying somewhere near Tumut or Adelong on Day 1. Look around and stroll to Mildura Day 2 and run into town Day 3. Or head for Hay and stop in Wagga or Naranderra (or Griffith, coming the other way) if you've had enough. Mildura is a big ask, coming from Sydney, particularly for a group on a day trip. On the way back, the best two day trek is take the freeway to Tailem Bend, go through Lameroo, Pinaroo, Ouyen and Managatang. Depending on how you're feeling stop at Tooleybuc, Balranald, Hay, Naranderra or Griffith. What people don't realise is that most of these places are on the river and have wonderful accommodation. e.g. https://www.stayz.com.au/accommodation/nsw/murray-riverina/hay/102306. Which would suit you all and there is large garage on site. Really just depends on when you leave and how tired you are when you start. At least one of the days is going to be a long drive.
Thanks for that Nick. I do like to have my accom booked before I leave, instead of just winging it, but that's just me. I have booked my accom at Adelaide for the extra night, to do the extra day sight seeing to Victor Harbour. But if no-one else is staying, I could probably cancel that night & just head back from Tailem Bend. JC & Eddie, are you sure you want to do it with just 1 stop on the way over? If we stopped overnight at Balranald, that would give you between 800 - 900 km depending on your location in Sydney & which way you go. Then between 520 & 550km depending on whether we went via Mildura or the more southern route via Tooleybuc & Pinnaroo. Those distances are on google maps & I don't know the roads, so would be happy for suggestions as to which ones to take.

I'd like to discuss route and stopovers with Eddie & Shaz on Saturday's run. I can only make it Thursday to Tuesday, but could meet up at Thursday night's stopover. May stay at Renmark on the Monday night (as recommended) and leave early Tuesday morning for Sydney.

NSW crew - trip to SA A few of us had a chat on the weekend. You are welcome to join our road trip. Let me know. It would also be good to catch up with Queenslanders on the Thursday night, if Balranald is on your route. I will see what I can do about arranging special pricing for accommodation. I'll update once I've had a chance to make some calls. Wednesday night stop-over at Wagga Wagga. Thursday night stop-over at Balranald. Sydney to Balranald is do-able for some people, so if you prefer just the 1 stop-over you can do that. The trip back home is at your own pace. Some are staying for the extra tourist days, some leaving after Tailem Bend on the Monday, or maybe taking the long way via GOR.

I would suggest two day to three days. Wagga Wagga then Mildura this the most direct route. This will keep you away from evening/night driving as the roos are not the best things to hit. As one of the SA crew this seem to work well.

The program is to include Tailem Bend, or "The Bend Motorsport Park" as it will be known as, visit on the Monday 100% and that hasn't changed. What is a bit fluid is to what stage the construction of the track will be come October 2017. We are hopeful of being the first Club to visit the track and with a bit of luck do a bit more than just look. Quite a few (VIC & NSW entrants who have to work) like the idea because from Adelaide, Tailem Bend is on the way home.

I've been informed "a look is all we are going to get", as it's development won't be complete. Would be great to do more but, it will be what it will be! Sent from my SM-J320ZN using Tapatalk

I spoke with Graham and Joe over the weekend when he was in Sydney. They worked on a few cars at the workshop I rent with a few other guys. He said the track will not be ready till next year so a view is all it will be. Still, that would be a good part of the trip. I'm not 100% on coming along as I would like to bring my race car over to drive Mallala and Talem Bend so I will see you guys in 2018 once the new track is open. As soon as I offload the Fzero/MTC SW20, Im starting on the Spyder I picked up a few weeks back. If I finish the 1MZ conversion and have it registered, I would like to take it on a drive to see you for the MR2 Nats in 2017.

I have spoken with Mallala Raceway and they do have a track drive day on the 28th of September. This is the Thursday immediately prior to the Nationals event starting on the Friday. This track day allows some passenger laps too so friends, partners are able to join in. And just to clarify. This track day has nothing to do with the Nationals event but is something that may be of interest to some of you who are driving to Adelaide for the Nationals. You would need to make your own entry for the Mallala track day and be there a day earlier and then join in for the Nationals event. I'm heading over from Brisbane and would be great to have some others to try Mallala Raceway with me. Cheers Doug.
