Ceramic turbo disaster

Hi everyone!
My first experience with a ceramic turbocharger hasn't been a good one. Who ever thought this was a good idea? It's an SW20 with a CT26 equipped 3SGTE. I'm looking at getting a complete new core and swapping the housings. No one happens to have a cheap CT26 core with steel shaft and wheels do they? It's a 74020.

Thanks!

I have heard good things about this company to have the turbo rebuilt or high flowed. I have not used them but spoken to the owner about other turbo rebuilds.

Looks like a full rebuild and swapping to a steel turbine costs $600 which IMO is very cheap. High flow options obviously a bit more expensive.

Considering the turbos around 20yrs old, you can hardly say its a bad idea. Sure not ideal for those wanting to increase boost/power. But thats not what it was designed for.

Thanks everyone. This engine is completely standard apart from a big exhaust and reasonably low kms. I'm a mechanic. I understand the theory behind this I just don't like trade-offs in reliability. Thanks Rob I'll see what I can source closer to home first.
