about 80 cents per capacitor, try and get low ESR 105 degree type and dont use too much heat removing the dead caps,it should run again, these did...

The capacitors died in the ECU of my previous daily driver (Honda Accord). It caused the engine to intermittently not start, or to turn off randomly while driving. At the time I considered the ECU to be the least likely cause of the problem, but after troubleshooting the problem it became the only remaining possibility.

Do you have a part no for this capacitor? And where did you get yours?

Take a pic of the capacitor (showing the voltage and capacitance) to the nearest Jaycar store...

I did. Jaycar don't stock it. Found a place and ordered two RB10ESR50, they are in the post now.

I order them according to the value written on the side of each capacitor and i get them from altronics http://www.altronics.com.au/ each cap has its own voltage and micro farad rating ie 10V 100uF so its important to put the same one in as you removed, once they are out its fairly easy just pop in the new cap and solder it in,caps have a positive and negative pole and the circuit board has the negative side marked on it so make sure you put them in the right way round. good luck and if your not keen doing it yourself im happy to do it just post the ecu to me and ill put the new caps in and send it back. cheers, pete

Yes, that's where I got them from. I should be fine. I have made electronic boost controler and Fuel intercepter before. Thanks

Well, that didn't go to plan! Got new capacitors and soldered them in. Car still has same problem. So there must be more problems with the ECU. I have given up on it now. Don't know want to do next, apart from buying a Links g4 ECU.

Any chance off borrowing it to check if I'm right?

Are you getting spark when it stops running? I didn't see you mention this. You have concentrated on fuel, though you may find that there is no spark after those initial kicks. My money would be on the injectors not firing though. For problems like this, it is best to firstly hot wire the ECU - run a new ground wire and connect it directly to the battery. You'd be surprised how many electrical issues are caused by bad earths and voltage drops.
