oil cooler and HFH connection
Hi i'm getting the hose from he'll replaced but the mechanic advised the oil cooler is blocked. Same as the connection fo the hose from he'll. Anyone know the part number or is there a better aftermarket option?

And it can't be unblocked?
Coolant lines that are blocked sounds like a lot of attention is needed to what's happening. Take the oil filter off, then a big socket removed the oil cooler (what the hose from hell is connected to). Give it some pressured air to clear through - or poke with small screwdriver - see what has blocked it and review what other flush aspects you do. Blocking at that point would have me looking at your cooling system more.

Thanks Tony. I''ll give that a go as brand new oil cooler is over $500. Tony do you happen to know the name and part number of that part. the metal pip connection from the oil cooler that coonects to the hose from hell. It has a small leak in it and looks rusty... hoping to replace that as it's block and leaking

Could Ultrasonic cleaning (the same as for injectors) perhaps help to clean it out? I have been told that this can be used to clean the oil passages, but not sure about the water passages.

The HFH is blocked? blocked with what, that hose has about a 10mm bore! Pete are you in WA (I thought I read you was somewhere) as I have an ultrasonic cleaner and compressed air which would easily unblock it.

Blocked by rust... When I first bought the car, the first thing I did was place all the cooling components such as thermostat, coolant and replace the radiator... it was just rusty water coming out.... I say it was blocked because of that... I flushed it before, but I assume it was too late as it had blocked it... So I plan on doing another coolant flush just to be certain

I'm in Sydney... I've got a compressor but no ultra sonic... it just dawned on me though, even if I replace the blocked oil cooler and coolant bypass attachment, chances are the coolant line that's under the turbo could be blocked too.

This could be an opportunity to swap to an oil to air type cooler in place of the factory oil cooler which would probably be more efficient and take some thermal load away from the cooling system.
