Do I bother with a GT?

Since my cousins MR2, I've always wanted to buy and build another similar to his. Considering it was the first ever sports car I'd ever driven, I really wouldn't pick any other car to buy.

Even though I'm planning on building the internals and upgrading the turbo, should I bother spending the extra money for a GT, or is it possible to build up the standard 3S GE into a power bracket of roughly 300kw at the wheels?

Its more or less a question of is the extra 3 or 4 k I pay for a GT worth it despite wanting to upgrade the workings anyway.

Question is simple. Hoping to get some helpful responses.

    Everyone has an individual purchase. GT vs GT-S, generally gives cruise control, door cards, etc. The mr2 is an old car where people have swapped parts around in most cars. So before believing the badge, check the current vehicle specs of what's in it today.
    I got the GT. Paid $4k. Spent way too much since then and still not finish.

    MR2 power. Do you want a daily driver or a car for six months of fun? Daily driver; invest in engine upgrades or leave beneath 10psi or 14psi on a cold night. Six months of fun; run 18psi and get your bigger numbers of power.

    Every second seller claims their car is a GT. Sticking a GT badge on a G-limited does not make it a GT. Not having a GT badge on a GT boot doesn't make it a lower spec car. GT trim and spec changes so much depending on delivery country and year of manufacture, just find a car in good condition if you are serious about getting one.

    That is a 'simple' question indeed. 3 or 4k more for a GT?? Maybe when they were in the showroom, doesn't make too much difference today - it all depends on condition. Sure, a GT or GTS would be worth more than a G-limited but only if they were in comparable condition.

    regards to your question... gt & gts came in turbo you refer to the 3sge which is the NA motor found in the Australian delivered Bathurst & some imports.. if turbo is the way you want to go I strongly suggest finding yourself a 3sgte turbo car to start with it is a LOT less work...300 ktw I hope you have deep pockets and really know how to drive

    And those pesky ADM GT models. They only really refer to level of trim, the 3sge engine offered the same hp regardless of GT, Bathurst or base level model when it came to ADM cars, only changed in hp through the years due to emissions gear on the cars, changed from rev2 to rev3 as well I think. But could be wrong again of course.
