Enkei RPF1
Hey guys, In need of new rear tyres so figured I may as well upgrade the rims. I'm chasing Enkeis RPF1, but not quite sure how much wider I can go than stock. As you know, the stock rim is 15x7 +45 for the rear and 15x6 +45 for the front. RPF1s have +45 offset too, so I'm guessing brake clearance won't be an issue? I want the rim to sit flush with the fender so my question is - how wide do you think I can go with a 17 inch wheel and +45 offset? I'm assuming there will be quite a lot tyre stretch action going on. Cheers!

17x8 with a 35-38 offset is fine on the front with up to 215 tyres. 17x9 with 35-38 offset on the rear with 245 tyres fits ok too.

xez Plug some numbers into this calculator, should give you an indication about flushness and fitment... http://91mr2.com/wheel-and-tire-calculator/
thanks mate, will play around with it! rikkir 17x8 with a 35-38 offset is fine on the front with up to 215 tyres. 17x9 with 35-38 offset on the rear with 245 tyres fits ok too.
do you think I can get 17x9 +45 to sit flush in the rear? cheers!

I don't think a +45 would fit. As Xez said, try the calculator.

Just got off the phone to someone who supplies these, I'm thinking of getting some instead of TE37. In another Toyota forum I used to frequent, no one messed with the offset of the front tyres due to making the car "follow" ruts in the road (don't know the technical term for this anyone?). Does this not bother any MR2 owners? If I put 7 inch wheels on the front I would go +32 +45 offset to match the factory, and ignore any sort of flush fitting hopes. Edit: ignore me I'm as confused as you are, but I'm looking at the same wheels so interested to hear opinions

Wouldn't it be the best to stick to the factory offset at the front and the rear? I'm having a hard time deciding what offset I need, +45 would mean it's the same as factory, but everyone is saying it won't fit :/ On the other hand, will a 17x9 +35 wheel have enough caliper clearance? The calculator does not show any of that information unfortunately

So ideally, since RPF1s only come in +22, +35 and +45 I would need 17x8 +35 at the front and 17x9 +35 for the rear? I can't quite figure that out with the calculator. Thanks

+35 should fit nicely Depending on tyre choice it may pay to have your rear guards rolled. My 235's on 9" +38 rims rub slightly when the car is fully loaded and i encounter large bumps.

hmm okay, thanks for your help! I'll see how it goes and if it rubs I'll get them rolled. :)

Mine fit ok too. rears guards needed to be rolled - otherwise fine. RPF-01 17 x 8 +35 (215 40 17) 17 x 9 +22 (235 45 17) a 40 profile is better suited.
