97 MR2 Bathurst (NA) exhaust system question

Hi,
I have been meaning to put in an aftermarket exhaust into my NA SW20 for a while now, but the only exhausts I've found are for 3SGTE. Does that mean it will not fit the 3S-GE? Not too familiar with the exhaust systems on those engines as I haven't had a chance to take it apart yet. There's a really good deal going around at the moment that I will gladly accept if the exhaust off a turbo SW20 fits onto 3S-GE. Thank you.

Unfortunatley a turbo muffer wont bolt up straight to a non turbo car. It might be possible to modify one to suit but it would require a bit of fabrication.
I'm sure someone would have done it before.

If you are looking for an aftermarket muffler,  best to go for something designed specifically for an NA, or you could be wasting your money.

    Ah okay thanks grosso!

Do you know where I'd be able to pick one up? I live in Sydney, maybe a custom made one would be a better/cheaper option? I was quoted $500 for a custom muffler a month ago, but the guy said it will be waaay too loud and will look like stock, while I want something like the turbo version, having 2 separate mufflers for 2 pipes to play around with while at the same time only really making it a bit louder, don't have a need to wake up everyone in the middle of the night. Thanks.

Fujitsubo Legalis R, made for NA
2 separate mufflers, 2 pipes, better sound than stock, not too loud, full stainless.
PM Dylan at Gorilla, he may be able to get you one.

you can bolt up the turbo muffler, you just need to modify the cat and make it a bit shorter.

Ah alrighty, thanks guys! I do remember stumbling upon the Fujitsubo exhaust but was not impressed with the noise levels of it. Those are apparently the figures:

    Noise Levels (dB):
    OEM:
    - Idling Sound: 68
    - Noise Near exhaust (5250rpm): 97
    - 3000rpm: 84
    - 5000rpm: 95
    - Response 4000rpm~6000rpm: 101

    Fujitsubo:
    - Idling Sound: 67
    - Noise Near exhaust (5250rpm): 95
    - 3000rpm: 83
    - 5000rpm: 95
    - Response 4000rpm~6000rpm: 103

Is anyone able to confirm those?

A guy on gumtree selling a green hardtop (no motor) $500 and a red ttop $1000 in brisbane. Seen apart of his stash for sale (not listed) is a full aftermarkt exhuast system, think it was hks (he has heaps of parts for n/a as he imported from japan many moons ago).  It had dents / scratches (not new) but looked like it was on the underside (not where you would see when bolted up).  Might be worth a call or text to him, his stuff was cheap, has clutch and all sorts for n/a.

Easiest thing for buying parts is use www.e-go.com.au they can pick it up and deliver it to y for less than you would expect and other services. You can even choose to pick it up from a depot to save some more. Basically takes the hassle out of the seller for posting and y control the costs :)
