Engine break-in oil

G'day all, I've finally gotten the motor and gearbox mounted back into the car. Once all the ancillaries and a few other issues are sorted I'll be able to start it up.

Just wondering what brand and weight people suggest for engine break-in oil?
And whether it's worth running two lots of oil through it during the break-in period? (changing somewhere between 250-500kms).
My plan was to at least replace a couple of oil filters in the first 1000kms.

Thanks.

Id personally recommend mineral oils, that have no friction modifiers, and preferably high zinc content. So easiest to source are penrite and lucas running in oils, also joe gibbs (expensive and a pain in the ass.)

You can also use base mineral oils and get a zinc additive as well.

Penrite sounds good, they punch well above their weight as far as price goes.

Anyone have any opinions on whether I should replace the oil half way through the run in?

I did mine after the initial start/heat cycle, then at 100 and 500/dyno.

I used the Penrite 15W40 'break in oil' for my new motor.

I used 3 fills of the Penrite for the running in process, with the first change at 100 kms.
    Then the second at 800.
Then I went to a full synthetic at 2000.

The new motor now has 18000 on it and seems great.
