Need new rear tyres

Most of you know I'm a conservative driver.

Need new rears  225/50/15.  Not that easy to find these days.  I have Bridgestone Potenza RE002 on the front.

Have one place close to work that said they can do  HANKOOK H457 AT $125.00 FITTED AND  BALANCED

Or 1 ebay seller can do Falken ZE912 for $135.00 each plus freight of $45 for the 2 tyres.  Then I have to pay for someone to fit them for me.

Which one would be better for me?  Remembering she is my daily & as most of you know I drive like a bit of a Nanna, lol.  So I've been told.

I had the Falkens, they were ok for normal road use, but were terrible on the track (probably not an issue for you lol)
I can't comment on the Hankooks though. If i had stuck with 15" wheels i would have bought Toyo Proxes 4 - 225/50R15 95V but they are much dearer.
It's getting hard to get wide 15" tyres unfortunately, which is why i bought 17" wheels.....

Looked at the reviews for the Hankook & the majority of reviews were good both in the dry & more importantly in the wet.  So I had decided to go with them.  Called in while I was out & when they had called their supplier, they aren't a size that comes into the country........... ggrrrr.  Wish people would check that type of thing before saying they can get them.  I mentioned the Falken's, so he had a look while I was there & called the supplier.  They had only 1.  I said I could buy 2 from an ebay supplier, so he said, he would fit & balance them for $25 each  and $59 for an alignment.

So I've decided I will do that.  Just hope that when I hit the "Buy now" button, they do actually have the correct size in stock.

A couple of the Vic MR2 Club members run 225/50R15 Falken ZE912 on the rear of their sdubs, and they say they are not too bad.
As for the Hankook 457's, I just checked out reviews of them on several sites (in the US and locally) but could not find the critical 225/50R15 size listed.

I also note that the Jax website has Nexen 225/50R15's for $135 ea, but I don't know if they are any good
They also list 225/50R15 Pirrelli's for $339 ea (gasp).
Somebody told me that they sell those to owners of early model Lambo's and Ferrari's.

I run Falken ZE912 on the front and rear since I have gone back to stock wheels. I have done about 6000km on the tyres and they are fine for daily driving activities.

I've heard not good things about the Nexen's.
Didn't like the way I was treated when I went into the local Jax dealership a while ago, so won't go there.  Pirelli's............ yeah.............. maybe when I win the Readers Digest jackpot, lol.

I've done the deal with the ebay seller for the Falken ZE912, he definitely had them in stock.  He has a 100% rating.  He is down your way Red.  Canterbury Tyre & Mag.  Said they will leave today.  I'll get them delivered to Ansen's.  So will have them before Christmas.  :)

Shaz $25 per wheel fitment/balance is a rip off, should be more like $10 of $15. He will probably say thats because he is not making a profit on the tyres he didnt supply, but its not your fault that he didnt stock them.

For what its worth, I've had a pair of Nexens fitted to the front of my SW20, replacing Kumho KU31s. The Nexens have transformed the way car behaves, so i'm a happy camper. This is with 17 inch rims, so may not translate to what is available for 15 inch rims.
