Bought 17x8 & 17x9 Lenso D1R
I've ordered the above set and should receive them today. I've call around a few tyre shop and they all saying that 215/40 for the front and 245/40 for the rear won't fit? From what I've researched 215/40 for the front is perfect and people even go 255/40 for the rear. Can anyone confirm if this is correct? I'm running lowered king springs (30mm) and standard shocks... I believe the offset is +32 for both front and rear

Yeah that's what I thought... i really want 255/40 for the rear and 215 or 205/40 for the front.. I rang up another tyre place and they said you'll be pushing it with 235!

Correction guys, just got the wheels. Offset for for front is +33 and the rear is +30. What is the max rear tyre size I can get? I wan to make sure before I pay for them to order. 215/40 front and 255/40 rear?

For the rear 255's will rub the body unless you roll the guards. 255's on 17x9's with a +35 offset need rolled guards and if you corner hard enough they can rub even then, so 255's on a +30 offset will definitely rub the guards, I reckon even the 245's might just rub at times depending on how far you get the guards rolled. As for the front 215 40's wont hit anything but I find 215's on a 8 inch wide rim handle really bad. When I tried that on a MR2 I found it tram lined a lot. That's because the front tyre will be stretched now and from the rim to the tread be pointing inwards like a triangle shape, so now when your wheel dips into deep grooves (waves) on the road especially at intersections when cars have weighed down the road during red lights, the bumps will hit the side wall and your feel the steering pulling in your hands.

Ok thanks. The rear guards are rolled so I should just go for 245/40 then. What do you recommend for the front then? 225/40 or 235/40?

I'd ask to trail fit some tyres first. 245/40 on the rear is the safer option for clearance, 255's sit nicer on a 9inch rim through with no tyre stretch. For the front 225/40's don't exist so its either 215/40's or 235/40's. I know that 215's fit without issue but 235/40 might just fit without hitting anything. 235/40's will handle much better if they fit. You need to be careful about the spring perch on the top with standard shocks. On one of my sets of rims I have 255/40's at the rear and im putting 235/40's at the front but I have coilovers and my guards are pumped slightly front and rear.

For the Front. go 215! It won't hit anything and hopefully you'll get full steering wheel lock too. 225's can fit, but I believe you need to hammer out the spring perch so it clears the tyre. Locating this size is also another issue as well as full steering lock. 235's. Doubt 100% that you will be able to get full steering lock without it rubbing. You also need to be careful on what 235 tyre you purchase. Not all 235's will fit! For the Rear. 235 - this is the only street legal tyre size you can run (In WA anyway, I'd imagine other states are the same). Any larger and the diameter of the rubber deviates too much from stock (225). 245 - This would keep the factory stagger from front to rear and is an option. Not sure on the rubbing aspect. 255 - Is the correct size for your rims. If you want to ensure the same amount of stretch on the rim, you'd ideally want 215 on the front and 235 on the rear. Just depends on how picky you are with this. It will also give you more consistency and balance between front and rear. Have fun working out what to do :)

I think he has +35 offset for the rear... I've got +30 so I think 245 is the widest which sucks

Ok guys I just got the tyres installed. I decided to go with 215/40 for the front and 245/40 for the rear... Super nervous as I wasn't sure if it was going to fit without rubbing. Well it's perfect! No issues with rubbing front and back. Looks awesome... I think I could have gone evern 255/40 for the rear... Rear guards have been rolled and the car is lowered 30mm.
