If you have used the tool below in the past for an oil filter that was on too tight and couldn't be undone by hand.
Used it on a 3sgte engine with a small z386 filter.

What about bashing a wood chisel into the side of it on an angle to help turn it?

I found that a webbing type (Supercheap) that wraps around the filter worked, but you need to position it near the end of the filter or it will crush it.

    Hi All,
I use a bike Chain type similar to the webbing type to get mine off & then use the webbing type to tighten the new one. The Chain type definitely crushes the filter. I reckon that I bought the Chain type from Repco.

    I just saw this:
    http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/online-store/products/Toledo-Oil-Filter-Remover-Cup-Wrench-65mm-14-Flutes-305054.aspx?pid=SPO82405#Recommendations

I think the genuine stock Toyota filter (90915-YZZE1) is 65 mm with 14 flutes so this tool should fit, but you would have to take in a new filter with you to make sure it fits.

BTW, this is what the webbing type looks like:

I had a similar issue with my starlet gt. I now buy the K and N wrench off filters. So much less hassle, and good quality filters too.

If the filter is on very tight, (and they often are) I have heard that the top nut can shear off with those.

That Toledo one is an online only or can order in at supercheap. They stock a 2 jaw or the strap type. Of all the supercheap choices I'd recommend the mentioned strap type or order the three jaw Toledo.

You sound like you need a quick turnaround though.
