40 KMS OF WINDING MOUNTAIN ROAD - SUNDAY 19 JULY 2015 RUN
40 KMS OF WINDING MOUNTAIN ROAD - SUNDAY 19 JULY 2015 RUN A road sign that says "X km Winding Mountain Road" always brings a smile to the face of any MR2 driver, especially when there is not a lot of traffic that uses the route.
The Queensland Run Calendar has Sunday the 19th of July set aside for a run to the west, and in keeping with the aim of the Committee to add variety to Club activities we have discovered a great piece of tarmac with the sign "25kms Winding Mountain Road" that we guarantee very few members will have ever driven over.
In addition to this going up the range we will also be using a different way of coming down the range, so if you make it next Sunday you will be assured of some of the best mixed driving we have done in many months. Not only are the roads twisty but the scenery is great, so the co-drivers will not be bored.
You will also get a chance to visit Nobby. Yes, there is really a village called Nobby within 90 minutes of Brisbane, and its where a certain ad slogan involving nibbling and peanuts supposedly came from, or so we were told.
We will be eating lunch at the famous Rudd Hotel where some tables have already been booked for us. Sadly for Groper the hotel is named after Steele Rudd, the author of the Dad and Dave stories, and not Groper's 522nd favourite ex-politician.

With restrooms marked "Dave" and "Mabel" the pub is a fun place and on the recon we were promised a warm welcome.
The meeting place for this Run is the infamous Oxley McDonalds, where we normally congregate in the car park opposite. Meeting time will be 8.30am for a 9.00am departure so we hope to see you all there, suitably recovered from "Nationals" fatigue.
This Run will also mark the introduction of trialling Google maps for the Run Sheet. If you include your name on the attendance list a URL will be sent to you to get the Run instructions from. For those who are technologically challenged there will be printed sheets available on the day.
Hope to see you there.
