Clutch Slave Cylinder

Clutch has been a bit not quite right every now & then for a couple of weeks.
Car was due for a service anyway so got the mechanic to check.  Apparently the slave cylinder needs replacing.  It will be a couple of days before the part is here.  Is there anything else I should be getting them to replace/check at the same time?

Thanks.

The front engine mount needs to be taken out to replace the slave cyclinder. Could check to see if needs replacing?
The master clutch cylinder too? Its a pain in the butt to bleed the whole clutch system properly, so better off doing it once then twice in a short period.

    Thanks chausta.

Engine mounts were replaced a couple of years ago.  He said the master cylinder is ok.

I'd change both master & slave at the same time. If one's dying, the other wouldn't be too far off. Second to that, there's not too many things I hate more, MR2 wise, than a poor shift.

I did talk to him about doing the master cylinder as well, or a re-build of it.
He isn't keen on using the re-build kits as they have found they often fail.  He said they could have sent it to be re-sleaved?  But that would mean more time off the road.  It would have also added lots of $$.  The $$ to do it separately apparently wouldn't be that much different to the additional $$ to do it at the same time.
$250 total which included 1 hour labour.  Fitted into the budget nicely.

Hi Shaz. Good to hear you fixed the clutch problem. I take it the mechanic was able to bleed your clutch system which fixed the problem.
I am told I need to bleed mine too.
Causta: Do I have to remove the front engine mount to bleed the clutch? Is there anything else I need to do?

Don't need to remove the engine mount to bleed. But it may help alot if you do, as it will provide more space

    hi mymr2
Topped up fluid to keep me on the road for the couple of days they had to wait for the part.
Slave cylinder was replaced.  Fairly sure they bled the whole system.  All good now.
