Engine bay cooling fans
Just wondering is there anyone on here using an engine bay twin cooling fan setup that engines to the the underside of the lid, are they worth having and is there anywhere in Aus to buy them? thanks, Lee

Purchased from ebay Aus Supplier (about $100 fir two), with the curved blades for super blow, been working for a year and very happy. Mounting is not fun, custom brackets had to be made that I am not completely happy with and going to get another bracket made (I havent found a bolt on shroud). Depending on your expectations is what side of the arguement you will end up sitting on. My opinion... Yes its definitely cooler for the engine bay, keeps the temps down longer. Does it help with temps, yes to a degree (pardon the pun). Does it make a huge difference to power output of the engine etc that is earth shattering - no (its not a 50 or 100 shot of NOS). Does it stop heat soak when racing in 40 degree heat - no. Does it let in rain when it rains - partially. I feel its a assisting the air movement. My approach, EVERY little bit helps so I have them.

Totenkopf has made some shrouds, but not sure if he has any left. Im pretty happy with it but they do let water in it rains and when washing the car.

Hi mate, I believe I had sold out of all the shrouds, however, can have others made. It isn't really economical to do 1 offs however, I used to do a minimum run of 10. Dasic' shroud is one from the very first run which were done in polished stainless. These weren't terribly cheap, I think they were circa $450 with fans at that stage. I generally don't supply the fans anymore and let the end user source them. They are designed for a spal 11 inch fan. I can put an EOI up for a bit of a group buy, if I can sell 5 of a bunch of 10 I'll be happy to do an order. Lead time might be a few weeks at minimum as I have other things on the go right now and the shrouds need welding and finishing on my behalf after laser cutting and CNC pressing. Nowadays I usually just fabricate in aluminium and can have powder coated if requested to colour of choice. Taking a guess of of previous runs I think the shrouds would run between $160 and 180, plus powder coating if required. Anyway if you seriously interested I can put a post up in next few days and see if we can get anyone else on board. I only have old photographs laying around of them, see below.

Polished stainless! crikey that must of weighed a bit. I see Dasic had a gas strut lifter was that fabricated afterwards? Definitely game for a powder coated black aluminium one please.

Dasic, nice to see things together, any chance your updating your build thread?
Toten, I'll chuck my shroud in for coating if there's enough interest.
I would suggest coating is well worth it as the raw finish looks ordinary after only a short time. Guess they'd offer an alli like colour anyway.

I would be interested in one, but I think my fans are 10" size (30cm diameter in the fan side to side).... can the hole be cut different?

That's 4 so far +1 for coating, looks the the target of 5 sold at a minimum is easily going to be achievable
