My Money Pit - SW20

ok hears the story...
Bought a red aussie 1990 sw20 for 6500 and had many plans for it..
Drove it around for about 3 months before things started happening. I decided to do the dreaded turbo conversion on it. I got onto hayley (Toymr) and organised a range of parts including, JE Pistons, Eagle Rods, and ARP Head and main bolts. Sent it off to road and track and terry built me up an engine. Picked the engine up and the next weekend, the old n/a motor came out after alot of mucking around. I realised that having a hoist would have been great but we managed to do it using an engine crane and jack stands. While the engine was out and the car up on stands, I decided to pull out the fuel tank and replace the n/a pump with a 255lpm walbro pump, also did the fuel filter while there was room. Next the D2 coilovers went in and fitted in nicely.
The next stage was trying to get the engine in, we decided to have everything bolted on (manifold, turbo, intake, loom, etc) as i thought it would be a mission to put those types of things on when it was mounted. Got hold of one of the nahux 3 inch exhaust systems so that went in also. It took a full weekend for us to navigate the way for the engine to go up into the engine bay, but once we had it up we put the oil in connected up the ecu and tried kicking it over, it wound but wouldn't kick...
So it was off to the auto electrics to try and sort out all the wiring, i got it back and they said that it starts on an n/a ecu but not the turbo ecu. I thought this was bull*#@! so it went into road and track and terry and the boys sorted it out and we finally had it running and driving on the road.
Did my run in kms and decided that the haltec e8 had to go in, along with 800cc sard injectors. Went to a brisbane shop to be tuned and installed, when i drove it out it felt a bit weird but i took it home and in 2 days time, noticed that the ct26 had busted the oil seals.
So instead of trying to rebuild a old turbo, i got onto hypergear and had a tr43 turbo (rated to 470hp) send up and went into another shop in brisbane where they installed the turbo, made up a new exhaust manifold and modified the exhaust with a high flow cat since the nahux system didnt have one, and did some nice intercooler pipe work for me.
Since then i have had as many problems with it as you can think of, but dont have the time now to go through all of them, if you wanna know just ask, but fingers crossed, it is almost done as of today, its been about 1.5 years since we started... I have had it tuned at APC in slacks creek at 19psi it only made 260hp, hoping i got heaps more in it though, but turned it down to 12psi atm just for safety sake...

I have also purchased 17 inch enkei white race rims, a toms snorkel and a different engine lid, also had the car painted in hot house green..

Here are a few Pictures:

What kind of power are you hoping to make? 260hp at 19psi doesn't sound like it's enough. How are APC at tuning the haltech? Did yours have any problems with program shutting down etc? I've got a stupid little plug n play box which has given us the poo poos with the hiccups it likes to throw around. I'm hoping it's still able to be tuned with the box otherwise I'm going to sell the haltech e8 and not worry about tuning the car unless I can get a pfc.

man i started the conversion with a goal of 300hp, but with the e8, its only a piggy back so maybe if i can get a stand alone we may find a figure close to what i want... not sure how they have tuned it, but 4 other shops have tried at the same psi and this is the best by about 20hp...

E8 is not a piggyback... I though you had the E6X anyway or did you swap?

Hey Alex. Look forward to seeing you and the green beast in March.

BTW: Looks like your handbrake needs adjusting.

LOL i know more about ur beast than u do :P Good seeing you and your car at that mass cruise...how good was the parking at the lake? 2 lone MR2's right in the centre 1 behind the other. Here's a piccy :P. My car looks so hot there i reckon. Not a bad pic from my new "phone" haha. My mate (silver evo8) and I cained it on the way back, those roads out the back of ipswich are surprisingly good, albeit a little too open. Good enough to keep testing speed cut [;^)]

ok, i am currently in the process of purchasing bits and pieces to do a high modified head to draw some more power. I have so fr purchased the 268 cams from ems.com, and i have ordered the ATM Intake plenium and 75mm throttle body to suit.
The race is on however as at the end on june i'm off to kapooka for 3 months then ill be moving down to Adelaide after the training, so for the guys up here, you may not get to see the final product, however i will keep you all posted on here...
As long as there is a good mechanic and tuner down there i can trust, hopefully i can get a power figure that would be finally half decent...

Let us know if you actually get your stuff from EMS. I've been waiting just on 3 months for $2kAU worth of gear and I don't even know if they've sent it or not...Just a heads up.

I've been waiting 4 months for my sidemount IC kit, border side pods, boost gauge, hotpipe. Get this...after ALL OF THIS TIME...he comes back and says he will need to refund me for the hotpipe and the border pods because he doesn't have them in stock.

    [xx(][xx(][xx(][xx(]W H A T T H E F U * K?[xx(][xx(][xx(][xx(][xx(]

Trust me on this mate your going to be waiting a LONG time. He told me my stuff was being picked up by fedex in "1 hour"...2 weeks ago. I get a PM from him on mr2oc after I left bad feedback on the multiple threads about his crap service and complete disregard for his customer's...saying that he would be sending my stuff out today and I'd need the refund. That was over a week ago now and since then I've left him a few messages on MSN in which he hasn't replied. The ONLY hope I'm clinging on to is that other people have waited X amount of time but HAVE received their gear. That's just under $2000 I've not seen or heard anything from in over 4 months now...

Best of luck. I reckon you get onto mr2oc and do your part to send him under. It's unreal.
