Radiator hoses

Toyota still produces radiator hoses for Mr2 sw20 and they are only around $16 to $ 30 for each hose.

But rather than wait 3 or more weeks for them to come from Japan I needed them asap so I did some research on how i could get some to my door without having to get off my commodious and pimply ass.

On Ebay you have the pretty blue, pink and orange silicon shiny crap. Around $60 sa set, various sets available, not much good if it's just one hose that you need. I know some will say silicon hoses are the bees knees but there are other schools of thought who will tell you they are crap. It's a personal thing and i think there is a lot of variation in the quality of silicon hoses; i'd be very wary of the cheap ones from ebay.

A while back my American cohorts on hot rod Volvo V70r forums recommended an "Australian" brand of hose - "mackay"
Mackay Rubber have been around since they started making cars, still owned by the same Ozzie family and still making high quality rubber hoses the old fashioned way.  My American friends swear by them, "the best hose you can buy". They use them not only in their boring hot but not so hot Volvos but their Mustangs and Camaros as well.

I remember my dad using them on his Fords back in the sixties and on my old XM pursuit coupe.
So I got onto the Mackay part selector on-line  and worked out what i needed. The selector is good as it recognises the engine variants and year model peculiarities. It gives a model number and function for each hose so it makes working out what and where you need it very easy.

Where to buy: NOT EBAY , they are twice the price there.  SUPERCHEAP AUTO is the place to go as they are all around $10 to $25 each; cheaper, better and faster than Toyota  and with FREE DELIVERY in metro areas.  Took 3 days from time of order. Great service and their part selector is the same as Mackay Rubber's so you know you are getting the right ones.  The good thing about Supercheap Online is that you can take back anything that they get wrong to any Supercheap store for a refund.

No matter what quality they may be, with non-genuine hoses be sure to get the exact diameters otherwise they could be a sloppy fit

    Good point.
The Mackay ones on this occasion are perfect.
Depending on batch or the person making them I suppose you can get poorly made ones even with genuine Toyota.
