FS - SYDNEY - Engineered Supercharged 1MZ V6 SW20 - $8,000 negotiable - SOLD

Dear Friends,

I am once again selling my treasured MR2, this time for real. I am looking for a quick sale and anyone who knows this car will know that there are lots of high quality parts used. The Supercharger kit alone sells for atleast $2,500. The reason for the cheap price is that one cylinder is slightly low on compression, but the car drives normally and still makes the same power - 150rwkw (i had it dyno'd recently and you can come for a test drive and see for yourself). It is a 1993 model and Australian delivered, the body and interior is very clean.

Less than 6 months ago i was advertising this for $13,000. The only difference being down on compression on one cylinder, so yes its a good deal for anyone keen to get their hands dirty.

Funny story... I sold my SW20 3VZ and I went overseas for work.. came back for a quick "break".. going overseas again next month for couple more months. I thought I'll get back in a SW20 V6 when I'm back.. but what you know, this opportunity came up... couldn't resist..

Unfortunately I didn’t end up getting it… Very disappointed.. It’s very sad how we do business nowadays..

    Thu 11 June:
    -          discussed the car details with the seller over the phone/email.

    Fri 12 June:
    -          Made an offer, and received in writingOK SOLD
    -          Transferred a deposit and asked for the car to be advertised as sold (which didn't happen)
    -          Did a inspection and test drive over SKYPE. (I’m in Adelaide obviously; the subject car is in Sydney)
    -          Transferred 55% of the price to the seller (couldn’t transfer the whole amount due to external transfer restrictions)
    -          Organised and paid for car transport from Sydney to Adelaide.

    Sat 13 June:
    -          I transferred the remaining amount. Full agreed price is now paid.

    Sun 13 June:
    -          Just waiting for the $ to land in the seller's account.

    Monday 15 June:
    -          I received “I got a better offer from someone else, I will refund you the amount plus your transport costs” from the seller.
    -          By now the whole amount I paid is sitting in the seller's bank account.
    -          I offered $1K on top of what I paid.. but apparently I was still $500 short of what the “other guy” offered.
    -          The seller refunded the amount plus the transport costs, which I must admit is fair from a financial point of view. (but obviously I don't want the money, I want the car..)

Basically I am very disappointed.. an already made deal and my money sitting in someone’s account (whom I’ve never met), and I offered to pay a whole $1K on top! But still… $500 is the difference between me and another gentleman who I'm sure will never forget how he got the car.

I guess whether you receive a hand shake, or a gentlemen's agreement, or someone's word, or “OK SOLD” in writing, or pay deposit, or even the whole amount in the seller's account, It doesn’t matter….. all for $500.. (my wife asked why I didn't just pay the $500 and get it.. I guess only men understand that it stopped being about the money now..)

    I'm back on the hunt for a V6 SW20..

If that's the full story then that's a sh!t way to do business. All for $500 :(

Buy the supercharged 2gr sw20 in Melbourne. Would be awesome.

    It's very unfortunate.
The seller is a decent guy. But the way he handled this is unsatisfactory in my old school books.

I have PMed Charlie regarding that one.

That sucks Lucas, if you can afford it I can vouch for Charlie, he helped me with my supercharged mounts and a great guy to deal with

Doesn't sound fair to me - but even though there's going to be quite a price difference the s/c 2gr is a far superior engine.

I had a drive of Highlanders n/a 2gr at the track day challenge, imo that's more than enough power for any application.

The supercharged 2gr would demand an incredible amount of respect i'd imagine. Lethal if you were foolish with it.

    Hi all,

Im sorry that Lucas missed out on car, another buyer made a significantly higher offer before Lucas's money landed in my account. Lucas was given an opportunity to match the offer but unfortunately he was short by $500. I then fully refunded Lucas's money after it landed in my account and also paid the transport costs he incurred.

All Lucas's comments are the truth, I had to make a decision, I did what i felt was right to protect my own interests and at the same time make sure Lucas was not incurred any cost.
