Things are lining up for a 1MZ swap.
Have a Camry lined up from a mate, and just did a deal on a SW20 turbo with an engine that has been stripped down and been sitting under a tree for 2 years. Everything I need for a V6 and turbo drive line upgrade. The plan is get the work done between the end of local racing this and start of next year. The best part is because of lack of numbers in the 2001-3000cc class, the 1601-2000cc and 2001-3000cc classes are combined here, I'll stay in the same class. Hoping I will be able to take the race to the turbo charged swift that walks away with it every round.

Third in class, 1601cc - 3000cc, for my efforts on the weekend. First place went a Datsun 1200 coupe running a over bored A15 on quad throttle body injection and about 8 years of development, second went to a turbo charged Swift. Third is not a bad effort an NA SW20 more so considering the margin. The is on one of the permanent sections of the Townsville 400 street circuit. Start line at the bridge Two laps around the top D section and back with finish between turn one and two. Black marking on the image are Tyre walls to create a chicane.

Really good times in comparison to the turbo Nissans. Just goes to show that power isn't everything!

This was Townsville mate. I think Gold Coast was mentioned in a post somewhere, but I definitely live in Townsville.
The event was run on a permanent section of the Townsville 400 street circuit. Word from club is next year it will be run on Fathers day and we will be seeking entrants from outside of Townsville. I will be on the race comity next year, I'll make sure event details get shared here.

Ah damn, must be someone else that's Gold Coast based. It's a really cool track though, reminds me of the Grand Prix of Long Beach circuit in a way. Very jealous that you have access to something like that!

Yeah, we get access to it 2 weekends a year, otherwise the residents complain. We also run a sprint at Sun city raceway, (go kart track) and the other club in town runs a hill climb at Mt Stuart. There is normally some rounds each year that end our Kart track sprint on Saturday and the Autosports club Hill climb on Sunday. I know it's a bit of a drive, but two days of racing with a good bunch of guys....I'm sure if you could arrange a few people to make the trip that there would be enough club members willing to give you guys a free bed to sleep in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDzUYNl0zps

https://youtu.be/oLwMBDOyelEThis was the run by the swift that put 2nd place out of reach. Was a good run, he takes the same line as me through every corner expect for the getting out on the ripple strip to enter the last turn.

This got delivered today. $500 JDM turbo, No no engine, but the gear box etc is all there. Fibre glass bonnet, 18inch wheels, generally pretty tidy, but there are a few bit missing.

Engine or not, $500 for a rolling body is crazy! What's the plan for this one?

5SGTE Are they monaro rims?
I didn't look that close, but Holden stud pattern wouldn't fit an MR2.
