Nice work Jason. Finally an MR2 with the right offset. Offsets make a difference. Your old wheels were weak and had no "STANCE"
Set your specs up (offsets, rims and tyre sizes) on www.rimtuck.com
Thanks Chester
Thanks Chester! Yeh, the old skool days of 18's or 19's is over, there's more to it now. I didn't pick my old wheels, but they did me well for those years (even tried to extend the dish on the rears but that fell through). I was originally after perfect offset 18x10 rear Face1 GT-C's, but these came up at nearly half the price, so I decided to settle, especially seeing how good the similar combo looked on your car (certainly not as wild though). Boozed, he didn't mean it literally. The old wheels were top quality 3piece Altstadts from Japan, not a Tempe copy. We're from the westside of Sydney, so talk like we're from LA.....[88]

Looks the business, polished centres dont look as tough as the ones you have, so good choice in that respect.
Meisters + dish = WIN.

Long time no speak Mako! Hows that sexy R1 of yours doing? I got the Meisters from an importer in VIC that picked them up in Japan before the dollar went tumbling down. Paid $2500 without tyres. Reasonable price, but I'm sure he made a bit of coin from me, I think it's fair though (haggled down from 3k). Did a fair bit of research on what fits & what doesn't, so I wasn't too concerned there. I was gonna buy a new set of GT-C Face1's direct from Japan, it would've been almost double the price I paid for the Meisters now [xx(] Couldn't justify that simply on principal.

Lips are chromed? I don't think so. Generally most japs are a clear anodized aluminium. At least in the way of Rays.

I figured they'd be stainless steel, in which case they would contain chromium (obviously not chrome plated though). If that's wrong then my mistake. I've got a set of rays two-piece wheels at home, sounds like I'm going to have to take a closer look.

I don't think it's chemistry so much as simply knowing what the hell things are made of. I had presumed that, apart from the ability to use one centre with a number of rim widths (and one set of rims for a number of centre styles), the other reason was so that a nice shiny and tough spun (stainless) steel rim could be used, but I imagine weight might be a good reason not to do so. Anyway, sorry to drag this off topic... Edit: Chem was my best subject in yr12.

There was enough to scare me [xx(] Anyway, I do believe they're polished stainless steel, but could be wrong.
