Fitted the coilovers, Toms front & rear diffusers/lip. Very happy with the result! Had to do a bit of work & re-attaching the rubber seals (got new ones too for rear). Also re-inforced the rear diffuser & cleaned up a bit of damage to it.

Will be aligning, corner weighting & fitting FIGS mega arms on Saturday!

Here is it kinda clean (bit dusty). Had it aligned, corner weighted & height adjusted. Always extremely happy with Peter @ Road & Race's (Rydalmere) work!

And yaye it makes it up the driveway (relatively comfortably compared to my other cars.

Ok, time for an MR2 related update, unfortunately not a good one, but an update nonetheless.

End of last year, I took the MR2 out for a nice drive & thought I'd open it up a few times. All was good, knock & all the critical numbers were perfectly within range, car felt good. Conveniently, as I did a pull 1km from home, I took it out to its usual 8500rpm in 1st & as I shifted to 2nd, I lost power & the the motor refused to idle properly etc. Same symptoms as a blown IC pipe. Thoroughly inspected everything, vaccuum lines, pipes etc etc. But could not find the problem!

Time to call in help. Another tow truck ride later (thanks FB for the memories) & the MR2's back @ Racesolutions.

5 Years Later. First time a towie was able to load my car without scraping it at all.

Compression test done. Perfect/equal compression across cylinder 1-3, but cylinder 4 had 0 compression. Leak down test done & it appears to be coming from the head/inlet side.

Head has to come off. Expected to see a burnt valve but no. Removed the cams which had signs of wear & sent the head off to be inspected. Head looked fine....So dropped a piston just in case & that too came out fine. Missing something here???

Dummy assembled head with the cams. And the problem presented itself. The cam wear, wore down the journals too. Clearances look ok on the bench, but when you spin the cam, the cam began to rock & subsequently closed clearance & opened the valve. Could see some evidence down the line too.

These HKS 272's are 13yrs old & are known to be "soft" & fail on numerous applications. So I think I'm going to bite the bullet & go for different cams & touch up the tune. Leaning towards Kelford Gen3 272's with 10.8mm lift in/ex (VS 10.18mm lift of the HKS cams).

Thankfully, pistons & rings are ok too.

As a precautionary measure, will change bearings due to some minor metal shavings from the cam failure. Will need to have the head tunnel bored.

After it's all back together it will be comforting to know that the bottom end is still looking good and that the cams are brand new.
Hopefully the cams solve the problem entirely, fingers crossed!

Keen to hear what difference the additional lift provides and if shown in any dyno results... you were at high lift and duration and now have gone higher again :)

Wow lot of wear on those journals. Interested to see your next dyno result. Mines in for a tune atm! Fingers crossed it doesn't explode.
