New member looking to get an MR2 any tips?

Hi all new member here so please be nice ;)

Brief dit about me,  moved to WA from the UK (yes another pom!) in january to serve in the ADF, no stranger to cars had 3 hot hatches and a motorbike before I came here and regrettably I didn't bring anything with me.
With that said now looking to start over and looking at getting an MR2 turbo,  never owned a MR2 before so just wondering what I should be looking out for with these (common problems etc) and what kind of prices are the going rate over here?

I've seen a couple of nice ones around the 11k mark but not sure if thats fair market value over here? the car market here is considerably more expensive than the UK but then vehicles do seem to retain value a lot more as well.

thanks, Lee

First of all. Welcome to Aussie forum.  They are a great bunch on here.  Im sure you will be treated well in your quest for a good car.    We don't have near the problem with rust that you do in UK but just be aware of it around wheel arches, lower doors, sills and round windscreen and targa area.   Just normal used car observations will serve you well in finding the one for you.  They are soundly built vehicles and as long as they havnt been buggered up with cheap rubbish parts or poor maintenance should serve you well.   Enjoy.   Cheers.

    Welcome to Australia!
Sadly, everything is overpriced in Au.. You simply cannot escape it.
I had a phone call from a guy I know who is selling his SW20 as he has purchased the latest Porsche GT2 (excellent business operator deserves a reward).
It is a registered Targa/Race car. It had 75,000 over the years refining it to an excellent level of performance and presentation. With this car you could enter any targa rally event, Bathurst production sports, MR2 Trackday Challenge!! with it. He is looking for 25000 with the trailer. PM for more info.
Also have a friend with a red hardtop 3SGTE with 220rwkw and a long list of upgrades who may be interested in selling. around 11k. This is a track prep car, registered.

I recognise that car from it's previous for sale ad on car sales. Could swear it was advertised for a verrry long time. No idea why, maybe the previous owner wasn't negotiable on price. Who knows.

Thats some abstract photography on its new for sale thread, think the seller needs a wide angle lens or just needs to stand back a bit! (Perth is nowhere near Melbourne)
