Meet Chiara

Hey guys, new to the forum and new to JDM! Always had holdens, this is my 7th car, working my way up from barina to v6 wagon commy to sedan then to 5L v8 then to 5.7L v8 ive had my fill of the sluggish beasts that are 'the commodore' and am feeling very delighted to be the proud owner of a quick nimble 3sgte sw20!

Ive always named my cars so without further ado meet Chiara. Shes a bit rough around the edges but she treats me nice :-)

Am trying to get my hands on a stock exhaust too so anyone got one lying around let me know!

Plans atm stand at wanting coilovers, better looking rims, and maybe upping the boost abit.

I think stock boost is around the 14 to 15 psi mark. Am i correct? How high can you boost a stock motor safely?

Welcome to the forum, and looks like a good MR2. Lots of safe mods listed on the forum and Google :) Stock boost is around 7psi. Get a good aftermarket exhaust to get better performance as the stock exhaust is restrictive. The MR2s are relatively cheap to do a few basic mods and then get the boost up to the 14psi. Much more above the 14psi, you may need to look at aftermarket ecu or fuel cut defender etc. The forum and Internet is very helpful. Enjoy,

That low aye. Wel it had a boost controller installed and the highest reading i got was 1.07hkpa which according to an internet conversion equals about 15psi ??? I ended up removing it because after fiddling with my head unit i mustve knocked something and the little tiny hose that goes into the boost controller had a leak and you could hear it behind the dash. Also made the idle horrible. So i removed the whole set up and plugged the hose as a temporary fix and still feels as fast as that 1.07hkpa i pulled previously. Maybe the boost controller was tapped into the wrong hose in the engine bay? The guy who had it before made some horrible choices with his mods and im currently trying to iron them out.

Boost will depend if it's a gen 2 or gen 3. Gen 3 is around 14 psi

If you post a picture of the engine we can tell the difference. Most obvious would be the gen2 has a air flow meter
