Any machine shop experts?
G'day, as some of you might know. My engine dropped oil pressure and has been since torn down.
Unfortunately I didn't catch it as early as I was hoping and subsequent scoring has occurred on the crank, bores, and cams (incl. journals)
The machine shop says that the bottom end is saveable, but the cams are stuffed and the journals need polishing.
The dilemma I have is that the cams are Brian Crower 264's and are worth saving if possible.
Does anyone have any experience with "line boring" cam journals and fitting bearings to the journals?
I figure this way I can have the cams machined down and saved, since the scoring is only on the journals, not the actual cam lobes.
Line Boring seems to be one of those things which has disappeared overtime like shot peening.
