On another note, did anyone get any videos of my launches from the hillclimb stage?

Emma got all our hill climb runs from the top of the hill. Aaron has a copy of the videos which he'll upload when he gets a chance. Otherwise I'll upload them sometime. She also filmed the regularity sessions and the hot lap shootout

Hi Folks. As this is my first post I should start by saying I having never owned a MR2, let alone a Toyota. I did however attend the Trackday challenge in my Ford Focus. Apologies for muddying the waters on your day but I will say that will go down as the best track/hillclimb/combined event I have attended. Big thanks to the organisers for a great event. If you don't mind I will put a note in the calendar for next year (really hoping there will be one).
Paul.

Thankyou for all the kind words.
It was very difficult in the build up to MTC 2016 but once I was driving to the track, all the emotion of what was about to happen became quite apparent. A good percentage of the MR2 enthusiasts were about to meet again for what we love best.
I arrived late as I was extremely busy in the month leading up to MTC to the point I was managing 5 hours sleep a night up till the Saturday night but everything was under the control of Sharon from Newcastle. How many times can I say thankyou. She is an amazing woman who deserves so much praise for MTC.
This year we had a few more hands on deck with officials, traffic control and media. This allowed me to control things without having to run around the track as much (as I have done in the past). I do love running around the track but its not as practical as having Charlie/Brendan/Dean and Dave doing laps in service vehicles looking after staff and photographers. The control tower provides excellent viewing and management of the event which resulted an event which was a lot easier to manage.
I do apologise if I was harsh/loud on the announcements but we did not do a PA check in all locations to confirm the range of the PA. Once it was established it was ok, we changed the announcements to suit.
Day one is always the busy day due to track set up, running two tracks at once, set up of the tarmac stage and managing the groups for a seamless transition. We were behind, but it was very close to the estimates.
The cruise and photo session was as good as usual aside from wanting to stay out there a little longer but unable to due to contract restraints.
Day two was a dream run with almost 40 mins saved while have quite a relaxing day in race control.
I personally enjoyed the shoot out with one or two cars dropping the ball during their run then discovering thats racing. Its what it's all about. Having Matsuda/Kazumasa and myself all drive the same car in the shootout with myself being the quickest of the three (by .004 of a second to Kazumasa) was one of fondest memories of driving at MTC and quite an honour to be as quick as both Matsuda and Kazumasa.
The regularity was good in the fact so many cars were on the track at once without issue aside from one car using it as a testing session. This in-turn effected the system, effected the final results and timing but we managed to survive.
The passenger sessions were well received with a open pitlane for an hour instead of 15 minute sessions. Certainly created a more relaxed way to end MTC.
The fun day on Wednesday was hard work as I was ready for a break but did manage with the support of Luke and Dave. It was open pitlane for the day for 12 or so cars. There were a few offs wit one more than others but we managed to get through the day without injury which is quite a relief.

There were many times I sat alone in my own space with thoughts of this amazing ride which has become MTC, a event which evokes pride in all MR2 owners, inspires keeping the make alive, the building of track cars, the nurturing of standard factory spec MR2's, acknowledgement by out peers that the make lives and lives strong. MTC will be viewed in the timing sheets of NATSOFT for years to come by countless curious viewers. Almost 900 views in two days which must provide gratification to MR2's and our friends that will not be forgotten but noticed.
I spent time watching everyone enjoy the party at the cabins under the stars. Its what it was always about, an experience, a memory you will smile about when you are older, a time to remember. It brought so much joy to see this moment.
This was all bought to a head when the SA crew asked myself to join them for a discussion in the cabins on Tuesday night. I knew they were gifting Sharon while I was asked to be there for the presentation. I had no idea I too was to receive anything as I never expect anything but I was wrong. The SA crew presented me with a plaque of appreciation. It was one the special moments in my life which I thank all the SA crew for such a item.

So all in all, MTC was another memorable event which will be remembered. If possible, I would like to have everyone send a copy of their adventure for 2016 and all the years before which they had attended as I have something in mind.

Everyone deserves a special mention for the effort it takes to actually be at MTC and compete at MTC but I will reserve mention for the people behind the scenes who worked together to make it a reality:

Highlander/Peter G: The adviser and negotiator.
Sharon: Admin/garages/accommodation/official passenger
Knightrous/Aaron and Caite: IT/Scoring systems/ Promotion
Dave and Dean: On track support/ Flag marshal/ Scruitineering/ Traffic control
WideMR/Brendan: Communications/ Scrutineering/ Track support/ Traffic control/ Flag marshal
Charlie: Track support/ Support vehicle/ Traffic control
Tree:  The cook/ The entertainer
Anthony ACT: Photographer/ MTC decals

Thankyou to all the new comers for 'having a punt' to see if MTC was worth the effort.

As for the future...I will put together a expression of interest after I have something to work with.

Thanks so much Steve. Once again i imagine this will be one of the highlights of my year.

There has to be another one. We cant stop now. What else do i have to look forward to haha.

From organising some of the smaller track stuff up here, it does get stressful with people not confirming if they are coming or not, but i think we have a large enough base of regulars to continue (i hope)

Paul.

It was great to have you there. Even though the event is MR2 focused it is really about car enthusiasts having a good time. It doesn't matter what you bring, as long as you enjoy yourself. You've set yourself a benchmark, so now you've gotta go again next year and improve. That's where the challenge is - becoming a better driver.

That's easily solved - make the payment so it must be up front before a spot can be secured. All other track events work that way. I've been burnt by not doing this a few times in the past.

Thankyou Paul,

I do encourage a degree of variety in the field which is always well received. Your car was beautifully presented and did garner plenty of interest. Wen something is confirmed, it will be announced via mr2australia

Thankyou Eric,

There is a lot of stress involved in many ways which will increase if management does not change or improve. The stress of running the day is good stress. Getting everyone across the line is not so much fun.
We will have a closer look in February. Glad you made it home ok and had a great time.

Currently editing 40GB of video from Rick/Emma.
Unfortunately it's in a weird format from the JVC camera, so I've had to convert it all first :P

Due to how some of it was filmed, I will have to do some big blocks of video, and not just individual videos of people.
