1) Are tyres such as Federal 595RS-R's not allowed in Street class? They're semi slicks, but they're also road legal

Federal 595RS-R's are not a semi-slick, they are just an high performance street tire with a tread rating of 180. A REAL semi slick (R888, NT01, etc etc) has a tread rating of 100 or lower.

RS-R's are actually 140 tread wear. Not that it makes any difference other than clarification.

When's the very latest I can register? I'm still trying to sort out a CAMS licence as I only realised recently that my AASA one expired this month...

You can buy AASA licence at Wakefield Park on the day. I think it cost $50-55 dollars PA.

You can register before you have your licence.  as long as you have it by the time you want to drive fast.............
but the sooner the better.

CAMS L2S licence is $119 and you have to be a CAMS affiliated car club member to apply. Becomes effective as a 30 day interim paper licence from when you apply (and signed by appropriate person in your car club).CAMS then post youyour official 12 months licence. See the end of the L2S Application form at this link

So ideally I can purchase the CAMS licence and have the slip signed by an MR2 Club of NSW representative on the track day? Assuming that a representative will be there on the day and willing to sign

I'll register for the day now though and pay before the end of this week just to get a spot. If I can't seem to get the 30-day licence I'll most likely just end up grabbing an AASA renewal.

Thanks for the help everyone

Hey Pat. I'm the president of the NSW MR2 club and I'll be attending the trackday challenge, so if you need me to sign anything that's OK.

There is an extensive build thread for my car here: http://www.mr2australia.com/mr2play/tm.aspx?m=18316

This requires the club to be cams affiliated though, I dont think the NSW club is. (or any of the states MR2 clubs - I could be wrong though) You can check on the cams website though.

The AASA licence is good to have too as some places dont recognise the CAMS licence. Queensland raceway up here dont accept cams for general practice days.
