My 1994 Super Red II MR2 Bathurst

Hi Guys,

Long time reader first time poster. I'm starting a diary of my 1994 MR2 which I've owned since late last year.

About 5 years ago I owned a Supercharged 1988 AW11 with a 4AGZE from a AE101. What an awesome little beast that was and I regret selling it to this day.

Fast forward a few years and after driving around in a Honda Jazz econobox, I've been itching to get back into an MR2. This time I thought I'd give the SW20 a try.

I purchased this car from Adelaide and drove it all the way back to Sydney where I live. Of course I made sure to detour to Bathurst for a few laps at Mt Panorama to celebrate the ownership of my new little toy. The MR2 got me home safely in one piece thankfully with not too many dramas. This one is lovely and smooth and I love it.

Beautiful example you purchased there Tim & Welcome.
I know this car, have seen it many times in Adelaide.

Good to see it has been passed on to another caring owner.

Looks like a very clean and tidy car, nice.

Hopefully we'll see it around at some Sydney meets or club events! :)

Looks properly clean and original!  What's the mileage, if you don't mind me asking?

It's sorta funny, a year ago i went to Sydney to find mine and drove it back to SA, and you buy yours in SA and drive it back to Sydney...
Definitely looks clean and original :)
    Welcome to the forum.

Aargh - so jealous! What a stunner!
That was my dream-machine before i ever bought my AW11 - an early bathurst with the silver wheels and non-airbag wheel. Looks so great standard.. And its such a nice example!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome, I hope to meet all of you at some point along my mr2 ownership journey!

@Carmikey, thanks for the compliments, It's awesome to know that this is the car you've seen around in Adelaide before.

    @xez Thanks for the compliments! I bought it at 172 533km :D

It's been awesome to be able to read up on the history of the car. From the log books kept it looks like I'm the fourth or fifth happy owner of this lovely car. It was originally delivered at North Point Toyota, SA on the 20/8/94. The second owner bought it from Cornes Toyota in 2001 @ 86k km. In 2005 the car was treated to it's final Toyota dealership service at 108k km. That's when the logs books stop and from then the next owners probably started servicing it themselves, which is not a problem as it's in very good condition for it's age.

@RdS thanks! i've always wanted to own a nice Bathurst SW20 as well! Since 2004 I've probably looked at 3 of them on separate occasions but wasn't able to own one until now.

Regarding my old aw11, i have a few old photos of it on my old nokia phone, but the phone is hiding somewhere and I can't seem to find it at the moment. It was a white AUS delivered model with an engine conversion. The body was rough but the mechanicals on that thing was rock solid and started first time every time.

2 weeks ago the car got treated to some new OEM Toyota Parts courtesy of Two's R Us. New leather gear knob, gear shift boot, gear shift surround plastic trim and ash tray.

The aged shiny leather on the Handbrake lever really stands out now.

Apart from that the car has had all it's fluids changed and a new thermostat installed.

Hi Flyboy, your GTS is stunning! Check out that gleaming paint work!

It was $69 USD but the shipping was expensive. I ended up buying a lot of other stuff at the same time to make the shipping cost worthwhile.
