Phiz's SW20.

Hi guys, my names Joel, however on the Internet commonly I use the name Phiz.

So since I got my reds, I wanted a little 2 door zippy car, so I got a 5gc (you can laugh). The celica is great, isn't fast enough to easily go over 90, nice and small and perfect on petrol. I never did many things to it, I had plans and such, but one day when I was talking to my mate Harry, he really opened the doors up.

So, I went on a search. Month or two of working, overtime every day I ran into one. Horrible paint, attempts to be broken into where made, interior trim out, so ofcourse I had I look. After a week thinking about it, and getting help from Harry, we decided to put a deposit down on her, and that is where today went. I

When we picked her up, the paint was more than to be desired, fade everywhere (but I guess it's what you get for a red toyota).

On the way home, what's more suitable than a maccas car park to compare the celic and the mr2, so it's what we did. Never in my life did I realise how bulky the celica really is.

So after that, we moved onto a paint work. My plan for the car involves little to no cosmetics, but seeing how it was right there and was asked if I want to, there was no way I could refuse. It was honestly amazing the outcome, for just a few hours work.

So, whats in the list?

The car is a 1990, yet had a 3rd gen 3sge, so that's enough power for now.

First and for most, a major service.
So the plan for mr2 is full service-
Genuine Toyota filter
All oils
Timing belt
Valve cover gasket
Poly bushes
All coil leads
Spark plugs

Coilovers
5kg springs all round
Updated cooling system, got plans for it.
Snorkel leading right into airbox, with a panel filter
Fujisubo exhaust
Cams, undecided yet
1995 mr2 turbo brakes

    Welcome to the forum.
    I'm a relatively new MR2 owner myself (10 months), so i'm learning a lot as i go.
I recently did a Beams conversion, and am going to the MR2 Trackday Challenge in January at Wakefield Park.
The guys on this forum are fantastic for help and advice, so if there's anything you need i'm sure someone can help.

Nice. I'm not really intrested in vvti, the way the engine is right now is pretty good, and I like hearing ACIS go off aswell :p.

Thanks guys, my main goal with this to begin with is to beat stock 90-91 turbos, then progress from there while keeping n/a :)

Okay. So on Friday night I finished work a little early so I could get home for the little one. Just did all the basics like plugs, filters, oils, leads ect.

The rest that night was onto the coilovers and wheels.

Coilovers- Ceikas, I'll write down the custom specs at a later date.
    Wheels- Rays Nismo JTC's
    - 16x7 x25
    - 16x8 x38

Nice ride man, did you strip the interior out to give it a good clean or something else?

Keep up the good work :-)

No, it's out for weight. The rest will be out tomorrow. Going to be built for track as it goes, so plenty more to come.

Finally a day off tomorrow, so getting to install alot of parts i've gained over the past months so it should be a good productive day.

Hey mate how was the interior stripping, specifically the sound deadening removal? Easy/straight forward?
I'll be doing the same (inc. dash removal) very soon in preparation for a roll cage.
