NIGHT RUN SATURDAY 15TH NOVEMBER 2014 - IT'S A HOT TIME IN THE OLD TOWN TONIGHT

NIGHT RUN SATURDAY 15TH NOVEMBER 2014
 
It will be a hot time in the old town on Saturday night , particularly for the G20 Summit in Brisbane at the Convention Centre.
 
With temperatures forecast to reach over 40 degrees C at Ipswich and the G20 people rudely interrupting our plans for a day Run this weekend, we have decided to hold one of our more popular activities, an exciting MR2 Night Run.
 
We will be meeting for dinner at the famous Yatala Pie Shop, 48 Old Pacific Highway, Yatala, at 6.30pm. To get there you take EXIT 38 Yatala (North) off the M1 going towards the Gold Coast. After the first course (a pie no doubt) we will depart for the Run ASAP after 7.30pm.
 
NOTE 1: The Pie Shop menu is on their website and if you want one of their top gourmet pies it is advisable to call them on 07-3287-2468 ahead of time to order. The Pie Shop DOES NOT take credit cards, but there are two ATM's in the eating area.
 
NOTE 2: The toll on the Gateway Motorway Bridges has been lifted between 5.00am and midnight on Saturday because of the city area cross-river routes being blocked off for the G20 , so there's no extra cost for people from the northside coming down.
 
The Night Run will take in the Gold Coast and Surfers Paradise, there will be an opportunity for those with tops (roof tops that is) to take them off before we hit the Strip, and at our final destination coffee, tea and cake will be served for dessert.
 
Full liaison has been carried out with the G20 security people and the police, and although there are "Declared" G20 zones on the Gold Coast we will certainly be avoiding them. However, if a VIP motorcade does approach then we can either wave or join in.
 
As per Club SOP a full Run Sheet will be sent to everyone who puts their name down on the Roll Call below.
 
With the daytime temperatures being forecast as very hot over the weekend this Night Run will provide an opportunity to cool off, enjoy the seaside breezes, and have a great time. Hope to see you there.

    Ben, no problems with having a chase vehicle, especially one with a Toyota badge. Hope to see you there.
     
    It looks like this will only be a small group, which is often much better for keeping together, but I hope the lower than normal numbers aren't because of concerns about the G20 such as indicated by Dom. The route has been thoroughly researched as per normal SOP and we will be well away from anything happening in Brisbane.
     
    If you listen to the news everyone has either gone away today or are hiding in cupboards, so the roads should be nice and empty.
     
    With the Gateway bridges being free of the toll it should be a good (and cheap) run down from the northside to the Yatala Pie Shop, and the remainder of the evening will take us on some less-used roads to a great spot by the ocean.
     
    PM's have been sent out with the normal Run Sheet, but if anyone else wishes to participate then please let me know. Looking forward to a cool night out in the car cruising down the Gold Coast.

    Hi ladies and gents.

    Sorry I have been missing recent club runs. My A-dub has been a little sketchy with a resurgence of electrical problems, it's fine for commuting but I don't trust it over long distances.

    I am also in the middle of moving house for the first time in 15 years, being a hoarder has done me no favours! Still renting however I finally have a garage, so my A-Dub will be getting some much needed preventative maintenance and when my budget allows, some restoration/rebuilding/modification. I want to be involved with the club and attend the runs but may not have my vehicle ready until later next year. Is there any chance anyone would mind carrying a passenger on future runs?

    I was hoping to ask for this months run but seems I have already missed it. :'(
