Interesting Barn Find
First two Pontiac Firebird Prototypes Dragged from Conneciticut barn!
The very first Pontiac Firebirds ever built have been discovered hidden in a Connecticut barn. Richard Rawlings, host of Discovery Channel’s
Fast N’ Loud, found the prototypes after asking a client if he had anything interesting to sell. The client didn’t, but he knew where Firebirds No. 1 and 2 were hiding.
The cars were hand-built by John DeLorean and his design team using Chevrolet Camaro bits. Firebird 1 debuted just five months after its Bowtie cousin.
According to
The New York Post, Rawlings originally wanted to sell the cars in as-is condition, but a collector in North Dakota wanted both machines restored to factory specifications for a museum display.
