Not sure, it might be a bit far away for me, ironically due to reliability issues, she is virtually falling apart at the seams. Just biding time until I have a garage (November) then its off the road for 3-6 months for an overhaul.
I could use the hoist time for triage purposes, but it depends if I can address an electrical issue before Sunday.

ScopeTim, Can do compression test OK Cheers. I've been told I need to do a cylinder pressure test rather than compression - force compressed air into a cylinder at the top of a compression stroke and check to see if it is escaping into the oil or water? Anyway I don't have a compressor or a compression gauge so either test will be helpful.
 Go soothingly on the grease mud as there lurks a skid demon.

In other words a "Leak Down" test. I'm guessing you're suspecting a head gasket issue ?

Indeed, I blew two coolant hoses simultaneously (head/heater and thermostat) on the way back form the AGM. I suppose it could have been an increasing leak on an old hose that built pressure, however my gut feeling is a head gasket. It hasn't shown any further symptoms since, although I haven't driven the car further than Bunnings, taken it over 5krpm or done any further investigation.
I'm happy to give it a miss if a leak down test is too time consuming for the day with a long lineup of cars, I have a few weeks leave coming up next month to sort it out.

Don't forget we have two extremely competent mechanics at the workshop (Scope and Nat_P) so you shouldn't worry about the time it will take. Scope can be doing his hoist thing (he loves that) while Nate_p will be there to help out with whatever comes along. We can provide tools, etc; ( I will bring my socket sets, etc; to help out as I am sure others will) and the whole idea of the day is to get it get some of these types of issues sorted out, while giving people the opportunity to learn about the possible trouble spots with the cars. Check out the photo below from last year. Even if you can just confirm or deny the problem (that's like "aware but not anxious"  ) it will help to reduce the time you might have to take on your holidays to fix it properly. As happened last year with someone's SW20, you might find that what you think it is most certainly is not the case. Walter

DIRECTIONS TO THE SCOPE CAVE
For everyone who will be visiting the Scope Cave on Sunday to have their ride checked over, an individual PM will be sent out tomorrow morning giving full details of what is happening. For some whose may be working or doing something else in the morning and have posted their apologies the same PM will be sent in case they can make it later in the day.

I don't know. You A-list socialites and your long Sunday lunches with the likes of Kim Kardashian. What could be better than snags on a barby, MR2's being looked at on a hoist by two of the three best mechanics in Queensland, exaggerated driving stories being told, and You Tube videos of Fast and Furious 6 being looked at??? I will include you in the PM send out this morning so you will have the details. It would be great to see the Red Terror there, even if only for a few hours.
