18" Tyre options

Hi everyone

I was just after some recommendations on 18" tyres as I just got a bit of a shock with the price I was quoted for the tyres I was thinking of running.
I need a 215/35-R18 for the front and a 255/35-R18 for the rear.

What are some tyres people have been happy with and what kind of prices have they been going for?

I have tyres in those sizes. Unfortunately it's inevitable that high performance tyres in those sizes are scarily expensive!
I can't remember exactly but I think my rear tyres (Pirelli P Zero) were more than $460 each and my front tyres (Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric) were about $360 each.
I rarely drive my MR2 in the rain, but I can say that I'm very happy with my tyres in the dry.

There is an extensive build thread for my car here: http://www.mr2australia.com/mr2play/tm.aspx?m=18316

    Thanks Rob

I think I can understand why you don't drive your MR2 in the rain... that would be an excessive in reflex testing wouldn't it!

ok so those prices make the prices I got quoted sound reasonable after all, I was quoted $220 for the front and $290 for the rear and that is for a set of Kumho KU39's which I have been running on the car now and on our STi as well and have been very happy with them in the wet and dry.
I might stick with them after all.

Where did you get those prices from? Few places around Sydney that usually have mid range performance tyres for bargain prices which is what I usually steer towards for my street cars.

I got those prices through one of the local tyre shops up here in Newcastle, but after your post I jumped online and looked up some places in Sydney and fornd the same tyres for $170 a tyre for the front and $257 a tyre for the rear which is pretty good I thought.
