Winton July 13th

Circuit Club is doing a Winton track day on Sunday the 13th of July. I'm pretty sure I'll be there. Just need to sort out getting the Monday off work.
 
Anyone keen? Trav, Tree, Ken I'm looking at you. Come for some driving if you're keen. Taking the battle to your home court haha. Otherwise just come for a chat and catch up.

I'm planning on getting down to Melbourne Friday night to visit a mate. Then exploring the city on Saturday, driving back up to Winton Saturday night to get ready for track day Sunday. If anyone has any suggestions for what to do/see/eat for one day in Melbourne let me know!

Yeah I stayed with Kev on Friday and Saturday while I was visiting Melbourne. He shaparoned me around town and showed me the sites and sounds. Top bloke. Old mate from uni. How do you know him?

I gave it one last red hot go at the end of the day and finished up with a high 41. Super happy with the result. Winton was an absolute blast. Sooo jealous of you Melbournians. Most fun I've had on a track since I was at Spa last year.

Haha cheers fellas. I felt so much more at home at Winton than I do at Wakefield. Just my kinda track I guess. So much fun I'm still buzzing. I might be back in November to have a crack at a 40 or 39.

I intend to break into the 11s this Saturday at Wakefield. See how we go.

Yeh Winton is a good track, smooth and flows well, but wakie can def hold its own with the kink and fish hook too. Did u catch any vids?

Drove my mates relatively stock MX-5 NA gotta say that thing is quite a lot of fun very easy to manipulate the controls. Ken was there too with the 33 his rear tyres were bulging out after 2 sessions lol (who puts 50psi cold...). There were a few crazy drivers (bad) out there but for $40 can't beat dat value.
BEAMS stayed at home to watch the house.

woulda liked to come Sunday but I had organised a bike cruise, my first as well as first time going sideways which on a motorbike means i slid but that is a tale for another time...

Yeh the smooth flow of Winton makes it suitable for the MR2. I find the final chicane a bit easier than turn 3&4 of Wakefield since it is slower but driving up against the wall really gets the blood going! Feels really good when you nail the sweeper because your survival reactions will always fight to keep you to the inside mid corner when you should go wide and then cut thru the super late apex setting up for the next turn.
 
I would probably have a few tales by next MTC...
