Good to see another circuit car coming online. Talk to Adam Ronke at Tampered Motorsport. He runs a bunch of trackdays at Winton as well as building a few cars. He has a contact not far from the track who is not expensive and does great work. He installed most of the weld-in cages for the Nissan Pulsar challenge cars. Cost was around $1200.
I would say stick with CDS cage instead of the CroMo units.
If you are looking to fit new uprights make sure you replace the bearings and the hubs. Good insurance.
If you are going for a wild engine, there are high spec axles available in the US. If you are looking for 200-230 rwkw, I am sure some second hand units will be quite ok. I am yet to here of anyone breaking these. But, you will need CroMo axle cages as these do break when you have some grip and a tight diff.
Doug from Qld builds the hybrid gearboxes. Nice addition for your circuit car.
Go with 'water to air' intercooling too. You will never look back.
Gearbox and engine cooler are also a must.
Come along to the trackday challenge in 2015. You will pick up a lot of info over the two days.
