Which clutch kit?

Hi guys, Luck has not been on my side,
Trying to sell my baby,
She does not want to go,

Handbrake cable snapped last night- so im going to fix that,
Today however my clutch started to slip,
I have had a slight oil leak that was my tappet cover gasket thats being re done this week for toyota warranty and it always dribbled to the base of the bellhousing, but upon giving the car a few hard runs in second and third and confirming the clutch slip, the bellhousing seems covered in oil (I ALWAYS SAID THE REAR MAIN HAD FAILED) As this will be the third clutch in a space of 12 months.. the rear main was replaced last june with the first kit.

I think its failed causing the oil to leak onto the fly wheel and soak the clutch disc,

Now, if thats the case toyota will have to warrant the ruined clutch aswell due to the rear main failing within the 12 months warranty, and i am not really impressed thus far with the two sports tuff kits from exedy.

Anyone got any recomendations on a good HD clutch kit- was thinking of going with the clutch industries one as two guys i know running them without a drama.

Or should i stick with the exedy for a third time.

Whoever buys this car is getting a sweet deal ahaha brand spanking new clutch and oil repairs. and another 12 month warranty period.

Cheers

Your one shaz is the CI heavy duty so it (should if you ever want to) put up with a bit of hard driving

Thats the thing, apart from the track day that i didnt abuse the gear shifting anyway- its never even copped any hard driving on it, and i know how to drive a manual,
I just cant believe this will be the third in a year
    1st Normal replacement
2nd due to a mechanic rattle gunning the pressure plate on for the first attempt
3rd due to this rear main leak that i brought to their attention 6 months ago, and was told its a tappet leak- replaced tappet gasket, leaking still so now being replaced.
    GRRRRR CURSE YOU CHARLESTOWN TOYOTA,

At least with cardiff we have one of the best diagnostic and most highly rated mechanic in Australia- won heaps of toyota mechanical awards and just loves his job ( everytime a new model/car comes out he will read the repair manuals cover to cover- just absorbs info been there 25 years.)

I had a fantastic experience with the Exedy HD in my NA. Was great right up until the rear main seal failed and ruined the clutch.

I would get another one in a heartbeat if my current china clutch failed

Ive used a few exedy HDs, all been great.

What is it exactly that you are experiencing (feel, slippage etc) that you don't like that can be directly attributed to the clutch?

False alarm, blocked pcv valv caused the rocker cover to leak, cleared bloackage all seems wel thus far :) car runs better now too aha, Something so small :/

But i think my clutch issue may now be slave cylinder related as i replaced it with a cheap repco one as genuine was japan order, i have ordered a new genuine slave and will install it upon arrival and see if thats the issue, as it locked me out of second doing 6200rpm.. sometimes clutch feels fine other times struggles to engage or disengage
so im starting to think it was that damn slave.

Not clutch specialists, but you know I've had no trouble with new clutch.  Charlestown Steering.

rear main leak shouldn't affect clutch. oil would dribble down the block mostly, and some would on the back of the flywheel, it'd have to be a crazy amount of oil to fling around the bell housing and get to the front of the flywheel and clutch.

maybe if the gearbox input shaft was leaking you'd get more oil onto the clutch disc.

Reactivating this thread, I'm looking for a new clutch/pressure plate kit for daily driver use with my Gen 3 turbo. The engine is lightly upgraded for street use and runs up to 16psi maximum boost. Ideally I'd like to keep pedal forces close to stock.
Does anyone have recommendations or experience with something similar?

For mild mods and street driving, many people just use an Exedy Heavy Duty clutch.

There is an extensive build thread for my car here: http://www.mr2australia.com/mr2play/tm.aspx?m=18316
