Cams/ Head work advice

Gday guys n gals,
I need some advice and guidance in regards to my 95 jdm sw20 n/a.
My Dooce is at my mechanics with the motor out sitting on a bench ready to install new clutch and lsd box as we speak.
Im also installing a heap of parts that i have been collecting over the last 2 years including trd coilovers, strut braces, front sway with delta reo plates, full bush kit including solid engine mounts, delta big brake kit, Trd wheels with rsr's, a custom lightened flywheel, full fujitubo legalis with headders and it runs a big pod filter.
so my thoughts are, "while im here, why dont i rip the head off, do some porting and get a cam grind to open her up a bit"
I have read Terrys 3sge article a few times which is fantastic (thanks T) however there is no definitive "do this"on the internet.
I know that all mods done must work in sync with each other.
What will work with the stock ecu?
Can stock valve springs work with say a small duration increase to aroung 264?
Is a port clean up and match enough to gain a little? or trust the head dude to open her up?
Anyting else i should think of doing while im here at this juncture?
The car is a weekender and i intend to start tracking it.

I need YOUR thoughts!!!!!!!!

Cheers in advance... Leeroy.

If your doing the head your best to do it all properly one go, springs, guides, seats, porting, valves and cams. If you get a good engine shop they will match it all up nicely that way. You should keep in mind however that if your going to do a race head the engine is going to want to be high up in the revs to make any power so you will have to rev it more to get in the power band which makes it very annoying to drive on the street. It's a bit of a tough one with the NA because if you do mild work to have it nice on the street with small gains, when you get to the track you'll end up wishing it was a proper track engine I reckon.

    Im hearin ya!
But a full on head would need a forged bottom end, then may aswell put the 2.2 crank in it...
All of a sudden im at 10k and still gettin smashed by turbos.
Thats why im looking at maybe spending 1500 to 2000 to gain just a little, say 15 hp.
Maybe skim the head for slight increase in CR, small upgrade cams and mild porting. Does this sound right???
the car was already alot quicker than the aus delivered ones i test drove and i feel it needs just a bit more to be a perfectly balanced drivers car.
    Thanks for your input!

I can't really say as I've never been in your car and never modded a NA 3sg with head work but 15hp engine is probably what you would expect if your lucky. Still a  lot of money for a small gain, not sure its worth it.
