SOLD - 1992 Turbo Rear Cross Member
1992 turbo rear cross member. A good upgrade for those on the early model 'edgy' cross member. Includes the tie rods that you would need and swaybar. Located in Hobart. $200 including delivery to VIC, NSW, QLD or SA, elsewhere might be a bit more. Negotiable on price.

"A good upgrade for those on the early model 'edgy' cross member" That's what I found on my own car. The pic shows all you need for the swap, but check that the inner tie rod rose joints have no slack. Looks like it has rear engine mounts as well. It should fit straight in, but you'd need a rear suspension alignment afterwards.

A performance orientated full wheel alignment by a shop that specialises in prepping motor sport cars is very worthwhile and recommended, can make a huge difference to the feel of the car and also be tailored to your driving preferences. Cheers

The later cross member was introduced to reduce the tendency for oversteer with a new design and different length tie rods.

This for sale thread is about a late model cross member, not a late model car where any number of things can be adjusted to make it handle like ****house. Your comments above could be misleading about a product Im trying to sell, please modify or delete the comment

Early X-member versus later X-member discussions can go on forever lol. Although my car has other suspension mods that also that effect handling, I found with the later X-member the car seemed more stable, inspiring more confidence during cornering, especially at high speed. But probably the main thing I noticed was better straight line tracking on rough surfaces that meant less fatigue after a long trip on typical country roads. So for me anyway, I believe it was a great mod for very little cost. BTW, I actually wrote a comprehensive article for the Vic MR2 Club newsletter on doing this swap. For anyone interested, I could send it if they PM me.
