Steve_A's MR2

Hi guys,

I've been lurking around this forum for years now and thought I'd finally put up some pics of my 2 now that it's looking close to how I've always wanted it!

When I was looking for an MR2 a few years ago I wanted as stock a car as I could find, and then turn it into my dream car. What I ended up with was an NA MR2 SW20 with a full Veilside kit, single exit exhaust (wasn't too bad actually) and rather unpleasant peeling chrome rims. It wasn't what I wanted but the price was too good to pass up.

Fast forward to now and the car looks like this

There's still alot of work that needs to be done, like replacing the missing front bumper trim which you can see in the first pic, and upgrading the taillights to a pair that isnt suffering from a crappy peeling tint job!

Changes I've made to the car so far include:

Work Emotion Rims
Fujitsubo Legalis R Exhaust
Tanabe 3-1 Headers
Tom's Carbon Super Ram Intake with POD Filter
KW V3 Coilovers
TRD Short Shifter (bought this before I even had the car!)
Border Front Bar (Replica)
Shine Auto Side Skirts (Greddy Replica's)
MadPSI Carbon Ducktail Bootlid (Soon to be painted the same colour as the rest of the car)
MadPSI Carbon Wiper Cowl (Modified for RHD)
Black Indicators Front and Sides (DOT approved parts of course)

Ultimately I'd love to put a modded 2GR into the car (following B24's build like a hawk) with the Wolfkatz BBK, but until that happens I'm pretty stoked having a fuel efficient 4 that's great fun to take through the twisties!

Looks great! You're one of a very few people to get the duckbill wing in Australia.
How did you get madpsi to do a rhd wiper cowl? They told me they wouldn't make one :(

Thanks Mr2gtracer! With the wiper cowl I actually bought it as a LHD and had it modified here in Brisbane. I took it to a carbon fibre specialist and they drilled a hole for the wiper arm and then used the cutout to plug the unused hole. They did a fantastic job and you can only notice anything if you really look for it.

Whoa! I didn't know Steve was selling his SW20! Great buy & congrats on the new purchase, best looking aquamarine SW20 IMO.

I'm really happy with it, very well kept, Steve did a great job!

Eric I am hoping to fix it up and sell it to my brother as he has said he'd love to have it! If it is going to be too expensive I will probably part it out though :(

Now I just have to decide what parts I will be changing over. I'll be swapping the kW v3's in as their tein rear left has a leak so it needs a reco.

Probably put the work emotions on too as they have a better offset and won't scrub as the work equips do atm. Once they're off I'll get them reconditioned, might paint the centres but haven't decided yet.

I have a TRD shifter which could replace the b&m shifter but I'll want to get feel for it first and see which one I like best :)

The big one I'm undecided on is what to do with the MadPSI ducktail. I love the tail but the 91 wing really looks good on the car too. If I do replace it I'll paint it though, the carbon look would be out of place on such a clean car I think.

Duckbill is awesome!  So is the new mr2, I personally wouldn't play with its looks, I think it great as it is.

I agree with chris, I personally wouldnt put the duckbill on. you would have to weld and repaint the holes then too.

Good to hear you are going to save your old car, not many left these days

Wouldn't remove the equips. Surely the rubbing can be fixed. Suited the car well & it looked perfect. Stock wing was fine too. Would only invest in some go fast bits.

I agree the equips look great but I'm not sure what can be done except raise the car right up. They need spacers to clear the suspension and scrub badly even with rolled fenders.

As far as go fast bits Aquamist water injection kit is on its way and will be installed with a boost controller, and larger fuel pump/injectors etc. New tune to go along with those bits and also take advantage of the 3 inch Berk dp which was installed after the current tune by Purple5ive.

But I'll driving just as it is now for a while first so I can get to know car properly :)
