Just make sure you torque them up with a torque wrench and don't touch them with a rattle gun.

Thanks. I learnt that lesson with my first car. It had aluminum nuts. I would forbid the tyres guys to use a rattle gun on them and would give them the hand brace instead. This was of course after I had lots of stripped nuts

Can you go a bit lower on the rear? Maybe 1-2cm.

I could go a bit lower but if I go much more lower I wont be able to get in or out of my drive way as it is very steep unfortunately.
I am also concerned if i go much lower that it will scrub on full compression when having a spirited drive through some nice twisty roads so I will see how it goes on the run this coming weekend before I make any more changes to ride height.

Fair enough. Depends if your rears are rolled & the tab shaved. My rear ride height is fine & doesn't rub at all.

Yeah I have all my guards rolled and the rear tab shaved, I did notice on the last run I went on under full compression the rear tyres touched slightly so I am curious to see how it goes this time with the new wheels and tyres on it.

I will have to have a closer look at your guard clearance next time I see you so I can compare.

So the MR2 has had a sleepover at Hi-tech mufflers last night after they had some deficultys with the dump pipe as it had never been removed before some of the studs were completely seized on and one stud, broke so that set them back a bit.
Hopefully it is all going ok today and I can pick the car up this afternoon or tomorrow but I should find out around lunchtime how it is going.

Well I have got the MR2 back from Hi-tech mufflers and am quite happy with the Job that Nick and Lambros did. Unfortunately they were not able to do a proper dump pipe off the turbo so they modified the factory dump pipe by removing the cat out of it and building a stainless cone off the bottom to improve the flow and then put a high flow metal cat in the exhaust after the dump pipe.
The exhaust is 3" off the dump pipe and then splits into twin 2.5" out to the tips, I am happy with the sound its got a nice deep note, I would have liked it a bit louder but at least I doubt I will ever have any problems with getting pinned for noise with it. I am happy to have the nice twin tips on the MR2 now as I think it looks much more balanced then what it did with the old single side exit exhaust and there is a noticeable performance increase after the exhaust.

Nothing exciting but for my own interest of tracking the health of my engine and other compartments I just processed my latest used oil sample from my recent service. On my last service I switched to Valvoline Synpower DX1 5W-30 from Valvoline Synpower 10W-50 so its a lighter grade and a slight difference in the additive blend. This is the first sample with this oil and happily the engine did not use any oil with the lighter grade and the results are all very good so I am very happy with how the engine is trending on this oil and will keep an eye on how it continues to trend after I start to add a little more boost once i have installed the electronic boost controller.

Yeah we came down for the Christmas run and at that point we were trying to escape Sydney before the mass exodus of people from the V8's and luckily we also just missed the storm.
Were you in your AW?
