It has been a while but its good to be back working on the car. I put it on hold due to family commitments so now I can pedal though to getting it back on the road. Rewire and relocation is almost completed. There is an hour of programming a few things then replacing the pull up resistors then its ready for start up. Finally be able to go for a drive again. More update will be coming on a more regular basis as I near its return to the track.

so two weekends ago with the help of Admin we got the beast up and running. The EVO injectors simply would not play ball so the original 650cc injectors were installed then it was up and running. Since then i have moved to 1000cc long nose injectors and changing all fuel lines over to be E85. I will be using the GATES Barricade fuel line which allows me to keep all the existing fittings. Car will be tuned on 98 then on E85 to make the most of the high compression engine. Looking for a April trackday to see how the car will perform.

Its pretty unique compared to any other 2GRFE. I am bias but its as good as it gets. I have footage on my youtube channel. Just have a look around as there is incar, flybys and some ontrack footage from other cars. https://www.youtube.com/user/SKR1967/videos

The Easter break lockdown has given me some time to move forward with a number of jobs that I have left in the 'do it one of these days' box. Number one being the complete sealing of the cabin from the frunk and engine bay. Due to the amount of engine fumes in the car the last time it was out this was always a must do before returning to the track to hopefully catch up to Glenn. After two days of patching everything in sight the cabin is now sealed. The S2000 steering rack also required some work to complete the install then cover plates made up to cover the steel which was removed to install the rack. Also installed the torque brace for the engine which I fabricated. It is mounted to the front of the block over the rear subframe. All made from chrome moly plate so its pretty strong. Its pretty simple but effective so will see how it fairs once it starts seeing some work at the track. Its there to reduce the rick of failure to the engine mounts and improve shifting gears at high rpm. Another little job to complete has been the fuel system which is now ready completed with car now ready for start up. Even so, there are about another 30 hours of work before it's ready to drive.

Well one good thing about this lockdown has been the time spent on prep of the car. Today is back making noises after upgrading the fuel system to handle E85. Driving it onto the street to perform a U turn certainly caught the attention of a few of the neighbors. Still not ready for a short trip to the tuner but it is getting pretty close. Finally patched up most of the countless holes in the car which was great. The Honda S2000 rack has changed the lock to lock to 1.75:1 which was easy enough when turning the car around on the street but yet to see how it will perform on the track. Will be interesting to see if it was a good idea or another S%$t one. Will it beat Glenns turbo life weapon? Lets see how it goes in a few months time.

It's already a few months since my last post but there is always something that is there to slow down progress. Work, home , life etc. The flex-fuel sensor is now installed as is everything else required for the E85 fuel system. Also added MAP sensor. This was a process as it required a barb on each port. I tried the MAP install some time ago but it was a failure yet the replacement system is a winner (thank god..) Just waiting on the replacement coils to complete the engine rework before tuning. Car is running ok, coolant is ok, no oil leaks. On the endless list of 20 items to complete, I finally sorted the front brake cooling lines and strengthened the bonnet. Still have the reworked front scoop and undertray to go.

Here are a few photo's of some of the work over the last few months. It's never any fun removing the tank then replacing the fuel pump. Very happy and relieved with MAP install. The flex fuel also worked out pretty well. Tuner is booked in for August.

.jpg) I know a few people are running fuel surge tanks with most in the rear of the car. As you may know I have taken a different route by fitting it where the battery is located. I have a few reasons for this: Better weight distribution, less heat, better cooling, lower COG. Battery is a Lithium Ion located in the cabin. Fitting a Radium surge with the pump in the tank would be nice but just working with what I have on a limited budget. I have had this set up for a few years but decided to give it a refresh as I have updated fuel to manage E85 in a bid to extract a bit more power from the 2GRFE so why not rework the system. Pre surge tank filter is 40 micron Earls unit with the pre injector filter being a 10 micron Duke which I had lying around in the shed. External pump is new 040 Bosch unit , Injectors being 1000cc Bosch motorsport injector. Flex fuel has been fitted with everything managed by Haltech Elite 2500. Have also replaced the old air scoop with a thicker, stronger unit which has been re profiled in a bid to improve aero if I ever get this thing back on the track. It is not a million dollar job and yes it can do with some tidying up, a coat of paint would be nice too but it is what it is. If I have time on Sunday I will be testing the fuel system then start up. Still have a few wiring settings to sort before tuning. tuning is on hold until the tuner recovers from an injury so (in the mean time)will be sorting out as many of the 30 endless jobs.
