I didn't manage to do any work yesterday due to rain.
Today the Wakefield 300 is on SBS from 2-4pm. Hopefully there will be some coverage of the car.

Here is some footage from the Wakefield 300. Its only the start and the first two laps but its a standing start where I 'cane it' in first then a little in second. After that I was short shift till my stint was over.
Will have more footage soon.

Nice bit of poke there - a little more than my shiny car with w-nky gauges!

Thanks bud,
Would have been a lot better if I could have given it everything in every gear except for 1st when I took off..
Next time round.

Yes, was great to see the car on TV. Surprised on the footage as it was seen a lot more than most other cars. I get annoyed when I watch anything to do with the race as we worked our backsides off all day everyday due to the tuner not telling us the overboost problem. I guess it can only go forward.
Yes, it was a lot of fun, the E30's were pests, as they were average drivers but knew how to block and brake test you. If I had power, it would not be an issue. I didn't so it was a 'experience'. Still, I have some good footage of the dicing between the MR2 and E30's.

Cheers

Started the rewiring of the car this week. A lot will be changed with plenty of improvements across the board.
There were a bunch of relays missing, bad earths, bad power supply and a bunch more. The picture will explain whats happening with the ECU,fuses and relays. I was going to run circuit breakers and some other bits, but decided to run with the basic set up as it will be reliable.
The connector will be changed as its not very reliable(just found out) but this set up will be far improved from the original.

I'm almost finished the rewire. It's been a great learning curve allowing a in-depth understanding of what keeps the whole thing running.
Found numerous faults, changed the layout of wiring paths, improved earth points, added plenty of relays, added fail safes. All signals are now sent to the ECU then sent to the data logger then Dash, The operation of the Dash will now be on the steering wheel via a joy stick to reduce risk while scrolling the menu from a difficult location at high speed.
Can not wait to fire it all up.
There are a few things to be done before the trackday which is planned for the 10th of May with the Toymods crew.
The turbo and exhaust manifold will be picked up on Friday after all the faces have been machined for perfect matching of flanges. A few brackets fitted to support the dump pipe, a heat shield for the coils and the killer being the removal of the fuel tank to fit larger wiring.
Still, it will be done in a nick of time to enjoy some driving in 10 days time.

Plenty! I spent a few hours working today with most of the engine bay completed and most of the cabin.
I have to check the lights, water injection wiring, the water pump wiring, the two gauges need the +/- sorted and the switch for the Dash and that's about it.
All the new +/- power leads are sorted with a huge - lead from the power board to the battery. This will provide excellent earthing.
It will be completed by Saturday then the undertray is removed so I can drop the fuel tank to fix the wiring on the pump.
It's coming along at the right pace. As long as I'm not working on it Thursday night next week, it's a success.
If I can do some quick laps under 1.10 on the Friday I will be very happy.

The wiring is pretty much completed. There are a few area's I can improve on, but overall it working correctly. There is a fault in the triggering for the ECU which seems to be a earth connection for the CAS which stopped the car from running (and making the Toyota trackday on Friday).
It will be sorted in a few days, then a few tests before going to the track.

Finally, the car is running strong on all four cylinders.
Still have a few little jobs to do, but will be ready on a few days.

Now most of the work has been done just to get it running reliable,(while making a few trackdays) I can look at more enjoyable mods like relocating the fuel filler to the front of the car, relocating the battery, relocating the water injection tank to the front, fitting a surge tank in the front, fibre glass boot, better inter-cooling, gearbox cooler. Fitting a undertray which is less than 8kg. Improving airflow at the wheel arches. Diffuser, canards, hard wired radio, had wired camera linked to the data logger.

Fabricated the plate to secure all the coils. I used some 50mmx3mm Alloy flat bar picking up a few 6mm threaded holes in the cam cover, then drilled a few 32mm holes for the coils, then 8mm tapped holes to secure the coils. The wiring is not perfect so will shorted then wiring so it is more uniform. May have to wait till after the next track day.
Here is a pic of the coil packs in new configuration.
