Powerplay did the final inspection and prep for the track including fitting of a few gauge sensors, oil cooler, pressure test which proved invaluable and a few other bits and pieces including acess to their hoist for the weekend leading up the the outing. The mechanic there was a spray painter for 12 years whi did infact paint the car as well as a few touch ups through the week. They are a honest and festidiuse bunch which is what you need.
Vinny,
Im fully aware of the rear view which will be sorted out with a rear view camera with a large screen fitted in the car. The front end really works well, almost too well! There is so much mechanical grip with the front end starting to work over 100km you really need to balance out the rear of the car with a difusser and wing. This will all be sorted by next week, ready for a another outing in a few weeks.
The intercooler system works a treat with it not getting over 20C. The oil was never over 100C and the water was 85C which means the radiator duct worked and the addition of the oiler was a wise move.
We experienced handling woes which will be sorted in time. The chassis is fantastically stiff but unbelievable noisy inside!! You hear every single noisy available, every one so the turbo sitting 400mm from the back of of your head with no sound proofing and only 2mm lexan windows is quite a cresendo!
The engine is impressive with power being made comfortably at 6400rpm which is my cut off point. The boost controller needs to be tuned, the engine is a bit rich which will will be sorted with a fuel regulator. I would like to have a 75mm exhaust but Im suspect if my ears will be able to deal with it.
The car had its shake down at a private 5.1km race track north of Sydney. I was of a few lucky people to enjoy the day.
Would be great to see the MR2 guys at Oran Park on the second weekend of November for its race debut.
Cheers
Steve
