I have put in 25 hrs this week with a full day booked today but the end is clearly in sight!
Finally I can start to relax.
All the suspension alterations are completed
All safety requirements are done
Toe links are now fitted.
Windscreen has been fitted
The last of the gauges are being fitted today along with the rear view camera, frame for lexan, dump pipe alterations, intercooler pipes and one or two little things.
I have just had confirmation for a place in the first ever track day at 'The Farm'. the Farm is the fabled 5.1km private track outside Gosford.
what a great day it will be.

I finally drove the car today if only up the street and back before loading it onto the trailer for a weeks prep at Powerplay Imports on Victoria road Drummoyne.
I wasnt shy with the throttle and the MR2 wasnt shy on performance! 1st gear took about 1 second with 2nd gear not far behind before I had pull it back to a stand still. I think the mods have helped with any lag issues from the brief drive I enjoyed. My friends stated its is very quiet with the turbo being the offender as far as noise goes. Pulling 150kg out of the front didnt effect braking(thank christ!).
The Nissan guys were blown away at powerplay. Totally amazed at the car. They simply didnt expect a full blown race spec MR2 to show up. It was a good day.
Tomorrow it will be on the hoist sorting out a few issues then it off to the track on Sunday.
IT will also be at Eastern creek on the 26th with EVO65 for fun and games.

Cheers

Im not 100% but very confident I will make the 1100kg mark. We just finished removing the heater pipes without removing the tank. My advice is to REMOVE THE TANK!!It was a long difficult process...
I will have more pics soon

I removed just on 300kg then put back 60kg but I dont know the starting weight which makes it a bit of a unknown.I will have to weigh it in the near future.
It is long hard process to do what I have done. If done again I would save 100hrs but you would need 300hrs and 10k to build it( plus car).
There is more weight to find too, but dont expect any nice creature comprts outside of a nice race seat, fancy steering wheel and the noise of a rear engine car with no sound deadner or glass screaming its head off at 7000rpm.
Sounds kind of good come to think of it..

Finally have the car race prepped. It does need tweeks as expected but ready to go. The problem for Sunday is the rain! If its too wet I wont be running the car and will wait for a few weeks.
Here are some pics from Powerplay where the car was prepped.

Powerplay did the final inspection and prep for the track including fitting of a few gauge sensors, oil cooler, pressure test which proved invaluable and a few other bits and pieces including acess to their hoist for the weekend leading up the the outing. The mechanic there was a spray painter for 12 years whi did infact paint the car as well as a few touch ups through the week. They are a honest and festidiuse bunch which is what you need.

Vinny,
Im fully aware of the rear view which will be sorted out with a rear view camera with a large screen fitted in the car. The front end really works well, almost too well! There is so much mechanical grip with the front end starting to work over 100km you really need to balance out the rear of the car with a difusser and wing. This will all be sorted by next week, ready for a another outing in a few weeks.
The intercooler system works a treat with it not getting over 20C. The oil was never over 100C and the water was 85C which means the radiator duct worked and the addition of the oiler was a wise move.
We experienced handling woes which will be sorted in time. The chassis is fantastically stiff but unbelievable noisy inside!! You hear every single noisy available, every one so the turbo sitting 400mm from the back of of your head with no sound proofing and only 2mm lexan windows is quite a cresendo!
The engine is impressive with power being made comfortably at 6400rpm which is my cut off point. The boost controller needs to be tuned, the engine is a bit rich which will will be sorted with a fuel regulator. I would like to have a 75mm exhaust but Im suspect if my ears will be able to deal with it.
The car had its shake down at a private 5.1km race track north of Sydney. I was of a few lucky people to enjoy the day.
Would be great to see the MR2 guys at Oran Park on the second weekend of November for its race debut.

Cheers

Steve
