MR2 Australia Trackday Challenge 2015/ MTC 2015. 12th-13th January. 40 Entries

We have a working group for future events. Myself/Knightrous/Stuka/Highlander make up this group.

The 2015 MR2 Australia Trackday Challenge will be held on the 12th-13th January. This is the Monday-Tuesday as it has been in previous years.
There will be at least one other trackday at another venue on the Wednesday-Thursday to satisfy the travellers from far and wide.
There is a historic meet at Wakefield on the Sunday which may cause some restriction for us but it also allow us to watch some classic racing while waiting for the garages to clear.

The program will be the same format as 2014
  • CAMS Hillclimb
  • Clubman circuit
  • MTC Special stage
  • Full circuit time attack/ three sessions
  • Hot lap shoot out
  • Regularity
  • Passenger sessions
  • Untimed sessions and timed sessions
  • Cruise session
  • Photo shoot
  • Official weigh in for your car
  • Use of pit lane garages
  • Monday night BBQ and sleep over at the cabins overlooking the track
  • Tuesday night 'chilli burger challenge' for the madmen
  • Paul Brell providing mechanical services
  • Driver trainer
As with previous years, you can purchase a license on the day or any CAMS license will suffice. Paramedic and fire services are provided for the two days.
There is a café on track, under cover parking, access to most spots on the track, a media pass for photographers allows access to many great spots for that special shot. The top of the hill during the hillclimb is on of the best spots you will experience.

If you have a MR2 and would like to spectate, come and meet and chat with all the drivers, check out the competition cars, join us for the photo shoot, do a track walk after 6pm, you are more than welcome to do so. On arrival, you can park your cars in the first row of open garages. There is no charge to join in the MR2 Photoshoot on the Monday afternoon around 5pm. If people who have not entered the trackday wish to join us for the bbq, you can bring along some food to cook, some drinks and join us. Accomodating the entrants is priority but if there is room, we will accommodate. If not, there is great accommodation next door the track at 'Pelican Sheep station'.

I will be taking advantage of the newsletter option on the website so please register for the newsletter for instant info on the trackday. The facebook site will also see the same information.

Online entries are available now. Payment via online banking as well as Paypal with a 2.5% surcharge.

Sorry to be a stickler but as yet the MR2 Owners Club of NSW has not yet given an official word if they will be hosting any events at the 2015 MTC.

Steve we were going to Discuss what would be happening in this regard. As yet no discussions have taken place. So at this stage the above statement made in regards to the MR2 Club NSW by B24 in the first post is not correct.

I had a chat with Wakefield management today. They are ok with the 5/6th but need to confirm all the curbing will be completed before we show up but we are 80% confirmed for the 5/6th of Jan.

Some additions to 2015 will be improving on more track time and the addition of another variation of the circuit which we discussed on the Tuesday this year. This is the addition of the use of the old track after the fish hook.
The idea of a 1/8 mile drag was floated but I would hate to see people break a car in a drag session. If there is enough support for it, it may be added somewhere into the program.

There was even talk of an additional day of driving? If people are serious about having a third day of driving at Wakefield, I can look into it.
Plan would be : No timing except for your Phone GPS, Paramedic will be available, we can try some drifting, a dirt and asphalt stage, a relay (Knightrous's idea) for a interclub challenge or just run full circuit sessions until your tyres wear out. If 25 want to do it, I will see what I can do.
The other option is a organised day at Marulan. Its a great little track, well run and inexpensive to be there. Its a must do for all the interstate guys.

Steve, we would all love to have a 3 day at Wakefield + a day at Marulan.  Like we discussed with you last MTC, if we are coming over from Adelaide again, we would like to make it as long as possible.

Time at other tracks thru out our trip would be fantastic if we can make it happen.

I'm in though I need to decide if I return with the MR2 or bring the ST205 this time. I still haven't had the 205 on the track yet.
I like the idea of fitting Marulan in. It's a great little circuit. Trav and Aaron will need to make some serious noise reducing mods to be allowed to run there though. Gary (the owner) is having a lot of issues with neighbours complaining to the council about noise.

I just bolt my street exhaust back on to bring the noise down.

    extra day sounds interesting.
I would really like some time on the track before we start events. I had NO idea on how car was going to handle with different tyres, alignment not having driven for almost a year etc. Then Hill climb only got 2 runs due to SOOO much waiting time . Would like a few more runs at that and the event after it too. It seemed all the emphasis was on the longer full track sessions . I think extra time on the early events is good for those that are not going to be killing it on the full track sessions.

Great to see the S.A. guys are so keen on getting as much track time as possible! If we can get the numbers up, will put something together. If we cannot get enough for a third day, we will certainly be at Marulan. That's a great set up with driver training available.
