AW11 Steering Wheel Differences

I've discovered that the AW11 had 2 different steering wheels (actually 3 if you count the special edition, which was a momo), the two I am referring to are the basic AW11 ones

Why does one have 'Toyota' in the centre and others have 'MR2' ??? - To me it appears the SC has MR2, and the NA has Toyota ?

Is this correct  - what does your one have (if it's original)

Cheers
Keith

I think all the Aussie Aw11s had Toyota in the middle and the Jdm ones Mr2. That's what I found when looking to buy one.
Then some are leather wrapped and some plastic. Aussie leather ones are slightly different in the leather wrapping to the jdm ones.

    Hmmm...

I thought it may be something like that - except, Canadian AW's have Toyota in the center too ..  I'm wondering if the SC AW has MR2 and the NA has Toyota ?

    Cheers

My JDM SC Import has MR2 printed on it.

I think we can agree all JDM SC's had MR2 on them, since that's all we get imported.
Also all AUDM MR2's had Toyota.
As for whether JDM NA's said MR2 or Toyota, someone might be able to fill us in. I have a feeling they would have said MR2 though. Maybe look around on Goo Net for some pics?

I've also heard the stitching on the AUDM wheels is much better. My JDM one is basically glued between the outer and inner parts and this has since lifted and generally looks crap. I still have my original wheel if you want pics, but since replacing with an aftermarket Nardi one, not really looking forward to going back to original.

Technically there would have been four main wheels..
    - MK1A US (two spoke)
    - MK1A (three spoke, basically the same as corolla twincam wheel out here)
    - MK1B
    - Momo (in super edition 1 and 2)

All but the Momo were available either twimmed or bare; and for the MK1B there were two different trim styles.

Japan MK1A trimmed. different hornpad to the AE82 TWincam...

    Japan MK1B Trimmed.

Japan MK1B vs Aus, and a closeup of the different trim finish points. I have no idea why they were like this..!

afaik, only Japanese and USA MK1B's had 'MR2' written on the hornpad - it was not a SC specific thing.

Yeah that trim finish point is what I was describing where it mine is lifting from, makes it look horrible. The rest of my steering wheel was in pretty good condition though.
