Yeah Wakefield clubsport license is $50 a year (maybe even $60 these days) and can be paid on the day. Wakefield are really good when it comes to getting your feet wet on a track. As long as your car has valid registration and looks roadworthy, all they ask is you bring suitable clothing, eg. long sleeved shirt, jeans/pants and fully enclosed shoes. You can even hire helmets from them for $30 if you don't have your own.

By the sounds of the results from last year and the courses available on offer, you'll find some of them favor the AW11 quite a bit, so even with a stock GZE you won't feel left behind at all. Even I reckon I'd have a good chance in a GZE Auto against NA SW20's, but circumstances for me this year means the 2014 challenge is unachievable.

Awesome so it shouldn't be to hard to get on to the track then that's good I was really worried about that.

Ahh just sell some kindeys and a car or child or two it will be okay.

Also this list concludes what I need to make the car track ready i think. ill add more if more comes up.
Replace brake pads. (not ordered)
Replace suspension bushes. (Already have all bushes i believe)
Replace shocks. (not ordered)
Replace coolant hoses at rear of engine. (not ordered)
Replace tyres or order new set of rims as well (not ordered)
Replace drivers seat belt (not ordered)
Need SC shift linkages (ordering)
Need SC hubs (ordering)
Need VSV (ordering)
Need clutch flexie hose (ordering)
May need to fix drivers window reg (pending)
Need to replace seals on engine (ordering)
Need fire extinguisher (not ordered)
Need to put it back together (pending)
Also need to raise enough money to get me over there as well most likely about $1,500 i reckon should cover fuel and accommodation I believe. If anyone wants to make a donation please feel free to contact me but I promise that if I'm unable to make it to Wakefield park I plan or returning all money that was donated because well I only want the money if I use it for its intended part if not then well that just feels like stealing and I don't like that.

PS poor datto is up for sale to afford the cost to make this little trip.

LOL haha love the determination. If you keep up that willpower I know you will make it! My list is probably just about as long, wish I could help with the funding but I've got roughly almost 3k worth of spending before mine is ready (already spent 1k) and I've just finished my exams and started working today so gonna be working my ass off until then.
Fire ext meh, I probably won't run one (didn't last year either), save 1kg haha

I'm worried that the cost will get pretty high but I reckon selling a few things doing some odd favors and sucking up to my loved ones can maybe help well I at least hope so. I wish to make it to Wakefield park and the only way that wont happen is either the mr2 suffers severally on the trip or in testing. Parts don't make it in time which I hope does not happen or some unseen force which I doubt it so really it comes down to the mr2 which i think... I hope she wont let me down ill be investing as much time as I can into her so she can be ready for this but I will never know until D day comes.

Also thanks Tree I don't suspect or demand it. but if anyone wants to help then I will not refuse. Also good luck with yours as well hope you don't have any dramas or such and are able to put together a great car for the day. Been hearing about that chilli burger? Might wanna stay away from it hey or at least wait till the last day to do it. and if you didn't run a fire extinguisher then I'm guessing I wont need to? if so one less cost to worry about.

Yeh basically do whatever it takes man, get a 2nd job whatever etc. My current priority is just ordering all the parts I need; my bank balance is literally under $50 for sometime now since I keep ordering stuff whenever I get paid lol. The MR2 Track day is definitely something not to be missed, so much fun last year.
I'll probably be staying for an extra day just to wind out a little (and in case I stupidly decide to take on that crazy challenge again, the stomach definately needs 1 day heal...)
Fire extinguisher is not necessary since it is not a CAMS sanctioned event (I think that's how it works). I'd like to install one too but like you there's so many other more important things that need attention
And yes poor datto :(

Ahh yes very poor datto she just got put up for sale :( http://www.gumtree.com.au...n-2-000-ono/1032399354
but alas her sacrifice will be a noble one. Well major problem is I'm now moving so I had to just leave my recent job. So hopefully I can get a new one straight away in the big bad Perth but if not then it will come to a grinding halt after 2 weeks before being forced to come back home. Cross my fingers that it doesn't happen and everything goes well.

I wouldn't mind extra time up over there but I think its gonna take me 3days? maybe if I do about 12hrs a day need to make up about 38hrs apparently so yea about 12hrs in one day but ill hopefully do more or I can find another way of getting there. Then its getting back as well so another 3days hopefully she holds together bit demanding on the old girl but she should be find. I'll be putting her through her paces when I get her going pushing her hard for about a week or so to see if anything goes bang or gives out last thing I want is to be stuck in NSW when I need to be in WA. No offense or anything but I got nowhere to live or be haha.

" . . . Fire extinguisher is not necessary . . ."

Consider it cheap active insurance for that moment when it all starts to go horribly wrong, either in your car or the one near you.  IMO an extinguisher should be compulsory in all vehicles on the road.

It's easy to make a bracket that sits in front of the seat mount, out of the way for normal operation but easy to reach in an emergency.

I know what ya mean dennis i will still be looking into one but now knowing its not a priority getting it onto the track it will be on the bottom of things to do but at least its on there. and I don't like being this dodgy but budget is tight.

In other news first causality in this war is my PS3, XBOX360 and some other random stuff in which I sold for money. And brought some new tools a die grinder set for only $25 dollars and a torque wrench for $80. really only need one but hey it was cheap. Also don't expect to much coming in the way of updates cause no doubt today or tomorrow I will be putting the engine back onto the trailer and waiting till I move up to Perth before I can sort it out and begin once again on the project... ****ing rent inspection ****.

Me too me too.

MR2 has a new home for now given that we had a rent inspection today.

and some more bad news i have not got any place to work on it in Perth which means back and forward trips to work on it when i have more then two days off when my parts arrive of course... which I hope is soon. but things are looking up I'm getting a helping hand in cost covering so this is good I reckon I can afford brakes and shocks soon which is good then she is completely ready to then everything else is just extra parts to assist.

The NA shift linkages work fine. I just made a short shifter adapter plate from scrap aluminium plate and it saves the missing gear issue.
I've just fitted gabriel shocks front and rear to my AW11 (road car) and its stiffer than the Mrs MX5 and close to my old V35 with 350z bilstein's. A good shock for $100 each.
OEM Brake pad replacements are cheapest from Brake Bits in Knoxfield Melbourne.
Black prothane bush kits (including everything but rear sway bar body mounts) are $130 shipped from amazon.
Major radiator hoses are $35-40ea shipped from amazon.
Cams approved fire extinguishers come on special every second catalogue sale at supercheap for 40% off. The next cycle is just after christmas, there will more than likely be a heavy weekend sale in the next fortnight too. It's well worth working out the supercheap cycle because you should never pay more than 25% less than the sticker price of SCA branded stuff, and twice a year each item will be up to 50% off. They will replace any SCA branded item that fails, regardless of warrantee, because its an in house brand that they have to back. Remember, regardless of how "****" the stuff is, it MUST meet worksafe and other regulatory safety standards, so why pay eleventy billion dollars for something rated to 10,000 tonnes when you only need 3.

So all my items have arrived well most of them mainly the important ones and such so this is good and I've started making progress but was halted due to some ache and pains that claimed my body the weekend I was down to work on my car. So I didn't get much done then I hoped. Heres some pictures of what I got done.

Yep I know that's all I got done was the sump removed also replaced rear main seal.Which is not back on yet seeing as I'm cleaning it all up. But with the rest of the parts now here making it to NSW seems more plausible every minute its just now getting the time to work on it.

Well NSW did not happen given that I went fully retarded and decided to move then failed miserable and ended back up here anyway waste of time and money... And enough about my life back to the MR2 got some more pictures and process going to upload later internet is giving me the ****s but engine is half in. and everything is looking good kinda... not really i need new brackets on rear, left and right sides of the tranny as well as manual shift cable linkage bracket given that I still can't find one but things maybe be promising but ill try not to get to excited to be shot down in a blaze of glory and pain.

Things still left to do.
Find the right engine mounts.
Replace all suspension and shocks.
Wheel alignment.
Put back interior and rear lights.
Get new wheels after I flog them out.
New rims.
Find MR2 Warning sticker.
...And start racing around in MR2 goodness and playing with pop up headlights ^-^ .

I know. I was kicking and punching myself hard that I ****ed up so bad in order not to make it. but you are right better to be prepared I don't wish to break down over on the other side of Aus and to be honest I don't think she was ready for that trip. But next year if nothing goes wrong on my MR2 major before it I'm keen to do it.

Also Update brought some new shocks, shifter bushes that mount on trans and new O2 sensor given that mine has taken a beating

List of parts needed...
New transmission bracket mounts all(manual or supercharger manual ones).
Most likely new air flow sensor.
Shift linkage bracket (mounts on trans(manual one))
And new tires when I'm done with old ones... hehehehe.
