Black Snake Creek Festival - President's Report Plus Photos
On Saturday the 12th of October a number of courageous Club members and their cars attended the Black Snake Creek Festival at Marburg, west of Brisbane.
Having heard strange rumours of what went on in this thriving metropolis of one pub and two antique shops no-one really knew what to expect, but after receiving assurances from Mrs Scope that no animals would be harmed in any way (Eric?) one ADub, a multitude of SW20's, and two Spyders, travelled forth into the unknown void of a local street parade and Show and Shine. As an aside here the temperature in Marburg was a balmy 32 degrees, which for returning attendees from the 2013 Nationals in Tasmania was a welcome relief from the Snow and Shine in Hobart.
Driving an automagic MR2 in a street parade averaging 3kph became a distinct advantage for yours truly in waving to the assembled crowd, while the smell of many other smouldering manual clutches was only partially overcome by the full cattle truck parked at the start of the course.
After the street parade came the Show and Shine on the closed off main Marburg thoroughfare. One point of great interest for the spectators was the seven point turns being done by many large American cars which often had to be guided backwards into their wharves, err, parking spots by two MR2's acting as pilot vessels. The owner of the 1960 grey Dodge in the pictures asked if he could get an MR2 into his boot as a spare in case the Dodge broke down.
Great delight was experienced by the local children telling their parents that the racing cars had their engines stolen (it's surprising what the parents responded when looking under an MR2 frunk) and a certain members story about these cars really being Ferrari's went over well until the truth was discovered.
This Run was a first for the Club, if the accidental inclusion in the Murwillumbah Banana Festival Parade caused by a wrong turn a few years back is not counted.

At least at Marburg the cars acquitted themselves really well, with the lone ADub taking the Best Post 1980 Car award.
We'd like to thank Mrs Scope for inviting the Club, the welcome we received at Marburg was great, the cars attracted a huge amount of interest in the Show and Shine, and it was certainly not as scary as the Bates Motel in Hobart.
