BC BR COILOVERS WANT SOME INFO!!

Hi guys,
i have some cash for coilovers and looking to order within a week or two; looking into a set of bc brs for my sw20,
i had them on my previuous sw and loved them!

I'm looking at two types Of BC BR's

The RA: which has Pillowball front mount and rubber mount for the rear and front camber plates $1049
and
The RH:  which have front and REAR pillowball mounts, and camber plates both front and rear. 1149$
From just jap.

Now im would like to know if anyone has these installed and what type they went with,

also which one would be the best for my car?
i do a lot of hard driving and sprited fun times, and the odd track day. so which would serve a better purpose and also which would last longer rubber mount or pillowball?

And anyone got the swift spring option?
if so how much, the guy at just jap i spoke to had no idea what they were info on those aswell?

I'd go the pillow top option. the rubber tops are good for a daily, but end up having more give than the metal pillow tops.

Standard spring rates on the BC BR seem to be pretty decent from the reviews I've heard, so i wouldn't bother with getting a custom weighed swift spring.

    ok, thanks dylan!

Now, i spoke to the guys from just jap, and apparently the rear pillowballscreate a  pretty harsh ride, and sometimes knock? but id like the best i dont mind the harsness, i can ust dial the damper down if thats the case, but i want something well set up for the track and the odd spirited drive, in the end the whole car is not designed to be cruised at slow speeds and enjoying the comfy ride.. HA

Also, with the swift springs i was going to go with the 5kg front 8kg rear rates, but how i read it the springs were alot better designed and balanced then the standard ones, ie durability and performance was better? or are they basically the same spring just painted bronze and with swift written on them?

I have the BC BR RAs I'm my sdub they are awesome I have them set up fairly soft on the street and the ride is not to bad ( I have taken my grandma out for dinner in it a few times and she dosnt complain about it ) and on the track and through the hills and twisties wind them up a bit and it does get very firm. The BR springs are 6kg front and 8kg rear and they seem pretty good. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions or if you are in Brisbane or close I could take you for a drive so you can see what they are like

Swift are an independent spring maker. They are unrelated to BC. They just specialise in making springs. You could ge swift springs for any coilover you wanted.

    So I've decided
To with the double pillow bal mounts front and rear

And not to go with swift spring set up
Unless someone proves they are worth it
Should I just go the 5kg front and 8 rear
Or go something different like the 6-8

I have BC BR RH on my gen 3 GTS . For Motokhana I have damper set at 8 notches harder than soft at the from and 13 from soft at the back. This set up works well in conjunction with the white line sway bar at soft at the front. Of course this could be different for different cars or tracks but is a good please to start on setting up.

I've read that the swift springs were a worthwhile upgrade. Even with the same spring rates as standard. Apparently they're a much better spring that behaves in a more linear fashion and results in better ride and handling. Do a Google search and have a read on other forums before you make up your mind.

I doubt you will notice the difference between two different makes of spring that are the same rate but if you want a different rated spring then what the bc coils come with go for swift.

I doubt whether it's really valid after everyone else's opinions, but I'm running BC BR RA's (pretty sure, no camber tops on rear), and I've never had an issue. Went from stock Gen 2, to Gen 3, to the BC's, and the difference is MASSIVE! Running 12 damper front, and 14 rear, with Whitelines running mid-stiff both ends. Handles like a dream in the hills, and works well for track, steps out a little, but it's predictable and easy to control! Never bottomed out with the 6 and 8kg springs, and I was taking it out 3 or 4 times a week til recently.
From the research I've done, they're excellent value for money, good quality and will have a good life (I bought mine second hand at a year old).

Don't really know if I could justify going the RH's myself, but it really depends on what you, personally, are after. The differences will just allow you to be a little more anal about your alignment, and may get a little more life out of them. If you're only weekending or tracking it, lifetime isn't really a huge issue regarding general wear and tear though :)

    Thanks for the input guys!

i went with the RAs with 5kg front and 8 rear, and very happy!
however, steering feels a bit light? and i have no pwr steer..
i think its because my whiteline sway bar is at full hard.. ahaha!
    might drop it to mid.

the lighter steering is probably due to a change in camber or caster since you fitted the coliovers
