FAIL
i very much admired your dedication to building an NA engine.

NA is awesome. dont worry about the acceleration of a turbo, corners are where NA is best;

I agree an NA is superior in throttle response, but the extra performance you get from the turbo (comparing stock) really is in a different league. The turbo isn't that bad though.

I have found that the slight lack of response of the turbo (compared to NA) can be "learnt" and you adjust driving accordingly. I have never had any issues controlling and getting the most out of the car through corners on the track and autokhanas etc, I honestly dont think i would have been able to corner quicker in an NA.

Having said all that, i do think that a high powered NA would be awesome in the MR2, 2GR for example.

Cheers

The thoughts of a Turbo MR2 had always been in the back of my mind, I would be looking on the higher side of 4-5k for about 120-140kw atw. I am now negotiating the best method of undertaking this conversion, to buy a motor and collects the bits, or buy a half cut.

The problem with a high revving na Is our gear ratios would need to change.

I'd want to build a more powerful n/a that peaks power at a max of 7500rpm. (obvious ecu change needed)

I think I might order a pair of cams as a self Christmas present for kicks and see what just CAMS can do, and if don't like them I'll sell them seeing as they are interchangeable between turbo-n/a

If you mean going turbo, I would say getting a half cut would be the best way, as you get the gearbox, hubs, drive shafts, IC, etc.

Just make sure it has ABS if yours does too, so the hubs (and shafts, but they can be retrofitted with rings if non ABS) have the provision for speed sensors.

Putting cams in the NA 2 litre that would give you lots of power, wouldn't that hurt low down performance and hence everyday driveability?

I'm not talking about 320 degree high lift cams here :P

at max 270 (probably 264) And valve springs.

I wanted to see the results of this build but his failed me haha.
