I am hoping this company can give some sort of specification to what sort of timings are used.

By the looks of things the stock ecu will be able to run with these cams. I am tempted to run a higher lift but at the same time I am very keen to see what the stock computer is capable of, so others may consider this as another option eventually.

A pic of the exhaust manifold, the port matching is terrible on these cars, why would this be the case? Every 3sge gen 2 I've seen has this.

I would imagine that the exhaust side wouldn't matter all that much when compared to the intake, but I hope the intake is somewhat better :(

Are you comparing the head port size to the exhaust gasket.

On two gen 2 3sge's I've seen:
The openings in the OEM headers are slightly larger than the exit ports in the head, and the gasket is slightly larger than the openings in the headers.

if you can get 130kw at the wheels, that would be epic.
if it cost 5k then thats an awesome investment.

I've got some pics of my recent work on the spare 3sge head
I have noticed that 1 of the cams and its cam journal has a gouge in it, would anyone be able to suggest whether it could be repaired?

i spoke to cyl head place about this not long ago. they can polish the journal, but the tolerances on cam journals aren't as fine as say crank journals and have a fairly thick amount of oil lubricating them so they don't completely remove the gouges nessisarily.

Could I suggest that unless you know the exact history of the head you have, you probably to need get a pro to check it out along with crack testing, before you put too much work into it.

Congrats on tackling this job, I'm sure you'll learn a lot from the project.

Good point with regards to the head, I will investigate in a replacement.

I suppose I could still use the valves out of this motor and do my initial porting practice on this motor. The valves look to be in great nick.

This week I hope to get an intake manifold Gasket to do some practice port matching.

Re port matching.
Try searching Google for 'exhaust gas reversion'

You will find stuff like this:
"In most cases, you never port match the exhausts. Many stock exhaust manifolds and virtually all tube headers will have larger port sizes than do the heads. You want that "step" from the port to the larger header tube or exhaust manifold because, as pressure pulses flow back and forth in the exhaust system, it acts as a "reversion dam" by resisting back flow of exhaust gases into the port."

I'm certainly no expert, but it could explain why 3sge headers have larger openings than the head.

Sorry to say but End Of Thread for me. :(

I had a passenger seat drive in DeltAV's SW20 Gen 3 Turbo and its completely changed my outlook on this engine development.

I am now looking at doing a 3sgte conversion in the next couple of months.

LOL
