Throttle cables

for all those folk who have allowed the cable to be melted by the turbo, or where the cable is frayed, we can now have reco exchange throttle cables .
Prices are GT4 $165 (new inner & outer) & SW20 MR2 (new inner only) $99, SW20 MR2 $165 (new inner & outer). All prices include GST and are plus post.
If your tried to buy them from Toyota, you'll understand reconditioning them is sensible.
The exchange is subject to inspection of the end fittings on your cable. Provided the firweall mounting plate and engine end "adjusting screw" are OK, then we can exchange your cable for the above prices

braided brakes hoses ADR approved

we now stock a selection of Australian made, braided brake lines. These all have ADR7/00 compliance stamps on them and carry federal Govt DOTARS component registration# 30886, so there should be no hassles with any registration authority. At present we have stock of front 185 & 205 GT4 and all MR2 SW20 ones.
Note, the rear SW20 ones only have 1 hole where they bolt to the inner guard panel, not 2 like standard, but they fit OK.
Others can be made to order in a few days provided we have a sample. We are happy to organise them up for just about anything, provided we can get the relevant end fittings. Most common Japanese fittings are available.
All the ones in stock are $66 each including GST & post within australia. Most other hoses will be around this price.
While you are at it, check out our "lucas" pads for all models. These are very popular for occasional track day use as they have higher temp rating than commonly used bendix pads.

used 3SGTE engines

we have 2 second hand engines at present. 1 is from a ST185 GT4 and the other from a MR2. One came from a 1/2 cut that had 86,4000km on it and was completely stock. The other was in a rear cut so we have no idea of km's . We have not had either running but will take the sump off and check bearings and do a compression test before selling them. Both are probabaly too good to strip to rebuild, so if there is any interest, we may sell them as-is. contact us if interested.

Castor Adjustment in 94 Gen 3 MR2 Turbo

Hi Road & Track,

I'm looking for a way to adjust castor in my imported 94 MR2 turbo. I believe some of the earlier models allowed for castor adjustment, but mine does not. Research has shown that Tein Tension rods will allow me to adjust castor, although do you know of any other products?

Cometic gaskets back in stock

we now have back in stock a limited supply of US made Cometic 3 layer metal head gaskets. $190 incl post to eastern states. These are 1mm thick and fit Gen 1 & 2 turbo and non-turbo engines. They DO NOT fit gen 3 engines (Oct 93 onwards), but we have another source for Gen 3 metal gaskets if you need them. On highly boosted cars, we recommend the addition of head or block o-rings, which we can undertake for you. We use these metal head gaskets on our gen 1 & 2 race prepared engines and find them equal or beter than Jap made gaskets at up to twice the price. Most gaskets stocked. We can supply Cometic gaskets for most popular Jap engines.

Boge (german)gas inserts. Conditional Lifetime warranty with original purchaser. Front or rear $466 pair. Normal retail $660 pair. these give a nice compliant ride and are similar to the Bilsteins fitted to some models.
SOME other options are.................
Koni (dutch) adjustable oil inserts. Front or rear $548 pair. Normal retail $630 pair. These are adjustable for fast road or motorsport use. Being a relatively stiff oil shock, they make the ride a little bit harsher , especially round town, but come into their own if you have harder springs fitted.
KYB(japan)gas inserts. Front or rear $181 pair. Normal retail $290 pair. These are considered as a bit better than the stock Toyota shocks. nice compliant ride. Good if you run super low profile tyres
and want to take some of harshness out.
Prices include GST but not freight/post.
Fitting service available if required. we can also convert to coil-overs.

Gen 3 dissy cap & Gen 2/3 rotor arms NEW

we now have a limited supply of these hard-to-get parts. current prices are: cap $63.78 rotor arm $12.67. the Gen 3 cap is different to the early ones in that it uses the small diameter plug wires and has a tang to postively locate the plastic wire cover onto the cap. you cannot use a gen 2 cap with gen 3 wires. The rotor arm is the same Gen 2 & Gen 3.
